I hope Dom doesn't leave and I don't think he will. If he does leave, I think a lot of you will miss him more than you think. He's a pretty significant part of our team imo.

Sutton had some good games, but he was mostly just a moody headcase last year.  Wildly inconsistent in every phase.  Wasn't even a reliable defensive stopper.  Not sure how much he'd actually be missed.

Couldn't disagree more, he would most certainly be missed.

But OK let's take your stance, Dom's gone, no sweat, who gets most of the minutes at the 3 next year? If you say Samuels, he has to make a monumental leap from last year to this year on both ends of the floor. Did you happen to catch him attempting to guard Diante Garrett last year?

McGruder? Maybe, but he's slightly undersized to be a full-time 3 and if he gets most of his minutes there, that means we're going to need 2 of the 3 between Irving, Russell, and Myles to step up in the backcourt or we will be woefully thin there.

Lawrence sure as hell won't be able to do it from the bench next year.

Did you even bother to read my post? Who can play the 3 for long stretches without exposing glaring matchup problems?

Given how inconsistent Sutton was, Samuels would be an upgrade.  The match up problems would be worse for our opponents than for us if we had Samuels, CK, and Asprilla or JHR all on the floor at the same time.  That's a really big lineup and I'm looking forward to seeing it.  The rest of the time can be split by the others you mention.

You are not taking into account the pressure man defense we play. At no point last year did Samuels demonstrate he could adequately guard perimeter players. If we have him playing pressure D 25 ft from the bucket on the wing, he's toast and we're toast. No way he's a defensive upgrade over Sutton on the wing.

That means we're toast?  I guess that does suck, then.

Samuels was just as inconsistent as Sutton, if not more last season.

No Dom means we have no true 3 on the roster who's ready to play heavy minutes. That means teams with a high-scoring wing will be able to exploit that hole in our roster and ultimately means we won't be able to reach our full potential because we wouldn't have a fully complete roster.

No Dom also means 1 less active, physical body who's able to attack on the boards and on D who's CAPABLE of putting up 14 and 14 against an Elite 8 caliber team. That means 1 less guy who's capable of stepping up and being the difference between winning and losing in a high profile game.

this sutton/lawrence issue is bringing out the Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) in the kstate fanbase.  and unfortunately the stupid gap between the average gpc omari post and the average goEMAW omari post is nowhere near what it should be.

meh.  don't want to lose Sutton but it's not like Victor can't come in and take those minutes away.  plus Victor is better offensively.

 :blank:

honestly, if Sutton leaves i'm  scared for the defense but would be v interested to see if Samuels could fill the majority of minutes in the O.  and also concerned why a 23 yr old SR (not graduated?) would be leaving.

and blame the recruitment of Myles not Lawrence for forcing Dom out if he in fact is being forced out.

your posting has most definitely NOT taken a summer vacation.

That's like a Strasburg fastball right there.

Lawrence expects the conversation to take place in the next couple days, but warned that nothing, as it relates to his imminent transfer, will be certain until the conclusion of that call. Even still, the sophomore says he already has an idea of what his role on the team will be should he, as expected, find himself in a purple jersey.

Basically, Frank has to finish the process of yanking a scholarship before he can formally give one out.  Has to be.  Otherwise the invite for walking on would be done and the kid would have his ticket booked.

You know why this is frustrating? If Frank knew that he was going to be yanking someone's scholarship, then he should have done it sooner so it could have gone to Rosario or Babb instead of this kid.  I'm sure that he's alright, but it feels like we're settling and simply saying he's a good "fit" for the program.

We hadn't even recruited Myles when Rosario (obviously would have taken) or Babb (we didn't and still don't want him) were on the table

Or Frank is stringing Omari along in case Myles doesn't get here.

the only way lawrence makes any sense is if they see both him and mcgruder as 2s.  it doesn't make much sense that way either.

Awful lot of people in this thread think that they know more than Coach Martin.
