They wanted a home-in-home series, when they were good. The timing of this agreement is ok by me.
Don't let this distract you that people who spell their names Gregg can't be trusted and will always be weenies.

Manhattan is widely known as the Cayman Islands of the Midwest so this is a great consolation prize for our friends from Colorado, Iowa, and South Dakota.

Also conference play is starting mad early this year. For some reason, the Big 12 decided to have Matt Norlander break the schedule news on the Eye on College Basketball Podcast last Thursday. Neither the conference nor the schools have publicized these dates.

@ Flood Aggie 12/15
vs. Baylor 12/19

And yes that is crazy early. Just wanna get it started and over with huh. Maybe the NCAA has big plans for March Madness already and since KSU is gonna be in it this year Gene has already caught wind of it.  :ksu:

The article in the tweet says 25% which seems wild for an indoor event.

25% of usual attendance might be okay with the exception of a few games.

Iowa State, not known for their restraint, will only be at 10% capacity.

Where are our HVACats to give analysis? The arena seems like it could be fine but concourses, no. Even at 10%.

They only sell water out of their concessions, I'd have to think that will continue for basketball. As far as us, I hope Riley County steps in and doesn't allow them 25% for basketball.

IMO it’s bad even in the arena. Consistent air patterns are problematic, regardless of the size of the space.  Especially now that the CDC confirmed what we figured about aerosols.

I think pretty much all indoor gathering is reckless at this point though, so I’m more conservative than most.

Even masked and distanced? I'm asking, legitimately don't know.

I’m not a doctor.

Masked would be good. Unmasked, with aerosol spread, and consistent air patterns, it is possible distance wouldn’t help as much as one might hope. Undoubtedly, distance is better than no distance.

The scenario I envision is infected person A has the air and entrained aerosols they exhale blowing from him 20 feet over towards person B for the two hours of a basketball game

I don’t know. I also don’t have a lot of faith in mask wearing given the games I’ve watched the last couple of weeks.

I doubt there's enough outdoor air being pumped into arenas for good dilution.

im just spittballin here but i would bet the more southern schools would probably have a better chance of providing enough outside air because during the winter months the outside air might be at a decent temp to go 100% (or nearly 100%) OA and the units could maintain setpoint. Places where its super cold i bet the heating coils aren't sized for that much freezing cold OA. Although for those warmer locations lots of local jurisdictions amend the energy code to omit having economizers b/c there are so few days a year where they OA temp is appropriate for full economizer. So, even if the conditions are right they might not have the system to do it.
