All Frank all day today.   ESPN radio this morning with DL, and then Bobby Cremins (USCe Alum) singing Frank's praises on regional sports talk radio later in the day.

No way Oscar ever gets this kind of play.   Frank is the talk of college basketball.

If oscar made the FF as a 7th seed or higher (which isn't going to happen), he would get plenty of play as well.

Do you not see the charisma difference between Frank and oscar? Dana Altman and Mark Few have underdog stories, how much of them have we seen this week? Charisma.

Frank is also very likable and commands respect.  He's an interesting person.  When Frank speaks, people listen.

oscar is the exact opposite.  When oscar squeaks, people roll their eyes or nod off.

I listen when oscar speaks because it's generally incoherent and hilarious

That's fine for politics, but not something serious like college basketball

I enjoyed being gross with Jim Wooldridge, I liked him and didn't feel weird cheering my ass off for him to turn the corner. I don't like the purgatory oscar has placed most of us in.

Yeah, it's weird to see fan's stat comparisons cause Oscar FEELS so much worse. I loved wooly and his teams and wanted him to dominate. I also didn't ever watch anyone but k-state so maybe I just had no calibration of what terrible was.

A lot of it is you probably didn't appreciate how good Frank was, too.

It's absolutely easier to make it to a Final Four than win a P5 Conference championship. You can get to a Final Four with a little luck and favorable matchups - not so with a regular season conference title.

i mean, mathematically, obviously it's not.  but maybe you meant for non p5 schools.

Yeah, there are 4 final 4 spots for all of the conferences and there are 5 P5 conference championships (5 > 4)  Pretty amazing that someone would come on here and argue that it's easier as the math is straightforward but someone did so here we are.

WAIT! YOU CAN WIN A CONFERENCE BY ONLY WINNING FOUR GAMES? HOLY crap, THAT'S A BAD CONFERENCE!

It's kind of an interesting problem to define. Intuitively, it seems like there is greater variation in teams from P5 conferences that make the Final Four than win their regular season conference championship.

Yea, I'm not sure getting to a FF is significantly harder than winning a major conference championship. Did oscar win the conference at Illinois when he did it?

I should rephrase: It's easier for a non-elite team to make it to a Final Four. It could be more difficult for a school like Kentucky or Kansas or Villanova to make a Final Four than win a conference title. Because they have more to lose when luck is a factor.

I imagine someone like Pomeroy could do the math.

Sure.  oscar's fanbase will listen.  He's like our drunk uncle.  But, I don't think anyone from the national stage cares to hear what our drunk uncle has to say.

Are you all just trying to marginalize what frank accomplished this year by chalking it up to luck and matchups?

I actually said he had a really difficult path. Definitely more difficult than his E8 run with us.

I do think it was easier than winning the SEC, though.

i think that it's fair to say that usc can beat duke, baylor, and florida, but not kentucky

It is fair to say this, but SC could have won a share of the conference title this year without beating UK.

i understand your point - that a 14-18 game season makes it much more likely that the best team will win a conference compared to a four game subsample of a tournament resulting in the four best teams making that tournament's semifinals.

i just take issue with the premise, that we should assume the team of interest will not be the best team.
