are kids like, a lot of work and stuff?

at first it seems like it but then your body and mind just adjust to this is what you do now and then it seems pud. but, like, at first when you realize all the freedom to just do whatever is going to be gone for a LONG time it can seem kind of depressing. and you'll end up with a lot of regrets about not using that freedom to its fullest potential. but it's all worth it for sure.

They’re easy.Just keep them in you pocket and give them an M&M every once in a while, no big deal.

also they are expensive AF. daycare costs as much as a mortgage. and you don't want to try to save money on that stuff, the best is the one you want to use.

Kids are a lot easier and cheaper when you have a lot of dependable family and friends around imo.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Jealous of people who have their parents that love to watch their kids living in the same town. (Also, don't mind not having to see my folks and in-laws multiple times every week).

We've had friends do some amazing stuff for us in terms of helping out when one of our kids had to be born or be in the hospital.

Yes. My in-laws are awesome, helpful and not intrusive. We also have my bro-in-law and my brother and his family just moved to town. We paid for preschool, but aside from that haven’t had the need for any type of paid daycare at all.

It’s nice when everyone helps each other out.

Would I love to live in Boulder, or somewhere cool like that? Sure, but I’d rather have grandma just down the street.

I was glad to not have grandparents around even though it was tough at times.

My son is in 2nd and the school is in the neighborhood about 3/4 of a mile away. Have been thinking about what age I’d allow it. He wants to ride his bike to and from school but I think 3rd is too young.

We're about a 1/4 mile away from school and it's a straight shot.  we're still paying for after school care this year in case it's raining or something, they can go there and wait to be picked up.  Maybe not next year though.  They have to go across 1 crosswalk but it's a neighborhood street that's not too busy and there's lots of other kids.

Probably home alone for 15-20 minutes before the wife or I are home.  Still stresses me the F out

Barring dangerous intersections, it seems safe to me. I’d have let nicname jr ride/walk at that age but there was one busy, uncontrolled intersection that made it a no-go (mostly for his mom).

Yeah, it’d probably been different for us  had nicname sr and his soon-to-be ex wife were the ones down the street.

Our elementary school is so close that I can literally see them the whole way until they go in the front doors.  Kind of rules because they can leave 5 min before school starts and have walked for years.  Also kind of sucks because lots of buses, cars, kids at pick-up/drop-off times.

Huge milestone when one is old enough that you don’t need a babysitter anymore.  Regaining that first little bit of freedom again is amazing.

I just checked Google maps and I started riding 1.7 miles to school in first grade. Was left alone around the same age, maybe a little later. I'm a weirdo tho so prob don't let your kids do that.
