I don't know if it's great news but it's not bad news. An old boss of mine was trying to hire me to join her team. Well, she got promoted during this process and is being relocated to the west. I could take the job but I wouldn't be working for her and I couldn't transfer to her team for like 2 years. So, I'm going to wait until she's established in her new role and then join that team in 6-8 months. Would likely have to relocate west instead.

I mean you just avoided the south to likely end up in California or something. I'd be fistpumping until my arm fell off.

You will probably want to live in Salt Lake. Which would probably be pretty great. (we already had the where would you live in the west thread with someone and it got real ugly iirc)

I've heard good things about SLC.

The early list of places we would consider.
SLC
Boise
San Diego
San Luis Obispo
Somewhere near the coast in Oregon

san luis obispo is not well situated for air travel. like you could hardly get worse. lots of people seem to like it, but i found it pretty underwhelming.

slc and boise are both great. i'd probably choose slc between the two, especially if you're flying a lot.

Good to know. I haven't even began to look at airports. My wife has family in SLO so that's why it was put on the list.

I agree for the most part. We had found some nice beach homes in our price range on the east coast. Not likely to find that on the west coast.

Only $2M? That's only about $1.5M over my budget. Maybe if I move some money around I can make the numbers work.
