Def don't want higher taxes. Between taxes and Soc Sec, I am paying about three F35's a year as it is.
Last year, 54 percent of skier visits, defined as one skier or snowboarder riding for one day, came from households earning more than $100,000, according to the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA). That's up from 48 percent five years ago, a 12.5 percent increase. In contrast, visits from households earning less than $100,000 during the same period slipped from 52 percent to 46 percent — an 11.5 percent decrease. ...The average weekend lift-ticket price last season was $85.52, which was actually a bargain compared to the $129 you’d have paid if you walked up to a ticket window at Vail or Beaver Creek last Christmas. This year, Deer Valley, Jackson Hole, Park City and Sun Valley have all joined Aspen and Vail in charging $100 or more for a lift ticket during peak periods.
Nobody ever accused Vail of being a cheap mountain. But the latest price bump — $160 for a single-day adult holiday ticket — is getting chowder lovers to sit up and take notice....Breckenridge, also owned by Vail Resorts, raised ticket prices from $140 to $145. Deer Valley, Utah, went from $114 to $120. Park City, Utah, raised prices to $115, and Whistler/Blackcomb, in British Columbia, upped its rate to $119 (Canadian).According to the Aspen Daily News, single-day tickets at resorts owned by SkiCo (which manages Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk) have gone up 65% since 2005.
I'm not going down this rabbit hole with you. If you hate $, then cool, I don't. I pay $700 a month on student loans and my wife is unemployed, i'd like to have more of it.
When were taxes lower than they are now?
I've never been skiing, but would like to go. Do you have to buy all the "gear" or can you just rent that crap at a mountain?
Is it still super pud easy to use your CO buds annual lift ticket at all the mountains or have they made that harder? I haven't been in over a trillion years.

Then, costs will continue to rise to compensate. And, someday, a million people will share a season pass that costs a billion dollars.
