My theory is that you have to set aside whatever concept of "dax" you may have had as some sort of sentient being. Rather, it has been a long-form performance art piece. And the Artist playing the role of dax has brought this character to it's apex, to the point where every single thing he says is a complete and total 180 degree contradiction of some other point of view he has espoused. We've gone so far beyond cognitive dissonance, to just patent absurdity. Ideas are completely meaningless.
It's like 15 years ago this Artist began laying the groundwork, on his way to creating this grotesque parody of an actual person, and the most simultaneously beautiful and horrifying thing about this Piece is that he is, essentially, an accurate approximation of many Americans (like, a statistically significant amount)
