The Trump Presidency

Regarding abortion, here is why I don’t give a pass:

The literal only way you can call early abortion murder is if you believe in a soul. This immediately makes this a religious belief. Pressing a religious belief on anyone should never be something our govt does.

If you want religion in govt, there are plenty other places you can move to. If you want to shut the eff up and let others live their life without forcing others to live as if they are a part of your cult, cool, stay, and practice how you like without making others do so.

There is no argument against that. It’s what freedom of religion actually is.
I almost entirely agree with you. However, once a person has come to the conclusion that abortion equals murder their hand is forced no other issue in their life can be as important, unless there’s something else that is murdering 1 million people a year.

Notions of government and rights and beliefs, and all that stuff fly out the window once someone comes to the conclusion that abortion is the exact same as any other kind of murder.  Once they come to that conclusion, it must be the most important thing to them or else they are a monster.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Treasury has denied payments for things before
Agreed. Pretty good odds of disproving “never” statements. Particularly when they appear in tweets and editorial statements.

Those ppl are selectively crazy and should get the eff out of my non-religious biz. They should also look into what our military does, what our foreign aid buys, what pollution does, what brake pad dust does, what poverty does, etc. here we are back to single issue voters being morons.

They can’t they don’t have a choice in the matter. How can they pay attention to any of those things when they truly believe that 1 million people a year in this country are systematically murdered? None of the things you just mentioned even come close to that atrocity ( in their judgment).

I think other political parties should spend more time trying to court the anti-abortion crowd. All you have to do is agree to outlaw abortion and then the anti-abortion crowd should be willing to compromise on all other issues, to do literally whatever it takes to outlaw abortion.  Unless of course they don’t actually believe that abortion is murder and instead just want to keep women in their place.

LMAO - sure they have, but once it gets to the group being discussed, they apparently just cut the checks - no questions asked, and the accusation is, that group knows checks are going to places they shouldn't be going and they still cut the checks anyway.

But . . . I know #blueanon will doggedly research this, because #blueanon will protect the mothership at all costs, rather than just accepting that the system is just a giant printing press of cash and then checks. Which is why we spent $9 trillion we didn't have over the last 4 years.

Okay -we're going to audit your work (after you denied us access) . . .  I RESIGN!

I would bet that pollution kills far more than abortion. Our support of other wars, bad actors, etc does as well, I would wager. Yet the same ppl single issue morons vote for are the ones who actively harm pollution regulations and the ones who love a strong military presence, historically. The only way that is reconcilable is if those voters are morons or so caught up in their cult that the outcome is the functional same as being a moron.

If true, this is really bad and shitty. Controlling the media is legit authoritarian fuckery. However, I’m struggling to feel real sorry for these assholes that pretty much let all of this happen so they could keep getting clicks.

My fear is that if 1930’s nazis had today’s tech and culture they would have fully succeeded. I am worried that the next super power that tries to go nazi’ish will get to do so due to the tools already being in place, accepted, and way more powerful than anyone’s vote can beat.

Best way to do that would be if you had a superpower AI and just one of them. As long as you have loads of different AI models out there and loads of different people in charge of the alignment of those models we will be OK.

China very much wants to have a single group of people aligning all AI models all over the globe. I’m sure Russia agrees, but they’re too rough ridin' backward to have to worry about when it comes to AI right now we do have to worry about Russia in terms of invading their neighbors and engaging in wars of conquest , but that’s much slower than an Information war.

I am cool with openly and honestly discussing issues at treasury and working to make a better system.

Starting the process with hyperbolic mistruths doesn't seem to me to be the best place to begin the process

I mean, only allowing lapdog propaganda media outlets in the press room, having the biggest social media spreader of bullshit in the white house, having the next two biggest social media spreaders of bullshit in Mar A Lago every weekend is a pretty good way to get what you want. That and Americans are rough ridin' morons and being a moron is somehow a badge of honor. I miss the old days when stupid people were just adorable.

I'm pretty sure that the government had way more control over what news people received in the 1930s. But it really seems like many people are just going to choose what they want to believe over facts and evidence anyway.

Trump’s pathological lying and ridiculous exaggerations undermine the integrity of his supporters efforts and entrenches their opposition.

The most likely outcome come will be that Trump‘s gonna eff all this up. It’s what he does. He’s gonna declare victory after having found a couple hundred billion dollars of savings and even his most ardent supporters are gonna know that he didn’t even get close to accomplishing what he said he was going to accomplish.  Just like last time.

The odds are that MAGA will fizzle out due to Trump‘s broken promises and maga’s disillusionment as they realize it.

The second most likely outcome, should Trump somehow actually be able to cut spending to a level where we balance the budget, is that Trump supporters will have to give up so much personally that they will come to resent the massive tax breaks Trump gives to the rich. In that case, Maga still goes down in flames fighting with each other about how much they’ve been used and abused by the rich and their maga leaders.

The Twitter files stuff about Hunter Biden‘s laptop and the government preventing anybody from talking about it was a pretty rough ridin' horrifying example of this type of thing. This was objectively proven, and in the benefit of hindsight we all now know that Hunter is a piece of crap and his dad lied about pardoning him.

I don’t think maga even matters anymore. It doesn’t matter if maga supports trump anymore. Trump can’t run again and the powers that rode Trump into office are currently blitz krieg’ing the govt systems in the ways they want now. Elon isn’t maga, he is an opportunist. He owns the best propaganda machine in history, meta is falling in line too. The powers of surveillance around now far exceed anything in history.  The changes enacted now will be nearly impossible to pry out of our system especially with how stupid most voters are.

Pete - I talked about your “do crazy crap” take the other day.  If you’re still confused, or you still believe I’m being disingenuous, I’m happy to further clarify my position.

My views on abortion don’t invoke a belief in God any more than my views on theft, slavery, murder, etc.

Most every law is rooted in some kind of morality. I assume you believe it ought to be illegal to batter an old woman - does that have something to do with whether or not the old woman has a soul?  Or is it because you instinctively believe it’s unjust/immoral/wrong for someone to batter another?

For all the fringe arguments on abortion, what it all really comes down to is whether you think the human being that’s killed has the same value and/or rights that other humans do.  I do.  You guys don’t.  In the overwhelming majority of cases, it’s really that simple, imo

And my response is, what do you think I ought to do?  What do you think would be the most effective means I could take to prevent abortions?   That’s not a rhetorical question.

I think it’s up to each person to decide what they should do about 1 million children being murdered in the country a year, if one does believe that it’s murder.

It’s kinda like defining pornography, you know it when you see it.  A sufficient response to the murdering of 1 million children a year is probably easier to spot than it is to describe.

I’m under no obligation to describe the appropriate response for the hypothetical murdering of 1 million children a year in this country.

However, anyone who believes that 1 million children are indeed murdered a year by way of abortion should be under the obligation to define a reasonable response to the murdering of 1 million children a year in this country.
