4 years to get a legitimate immigration reform bill done, without billions of tack ons for perpetual wars and other bullshit . . . and well, nothing.

Special note, that doesn't include feckless border bills put out there with the soul sole intention of getting Pubs "on record" in an election cycle.

How long do you guys think it will take the army to act upon its own citizens before the entire country will be swept?

If you’re realistic, it’s years.

How are the second amendment ppl ok with this?

What are the measurables?  I mean, our election system has highly protected and easily reported measurables and 4yrs later nearly the entire GOP still says that the 2020 election was stolen. Who is to say when all the illegals are swept and the emergency is over?  The same gop morons?  That is who will be in control.

This is quite literally the most dangerous and most slippery of slopes and ppl are cool with it. This is literally why so many 2A ppl insist on having guns. All for Donald trumps weak ego. This is very mumped.

I'm just looking forward to all of the fines and jail time for all of the people that own these farms and businesses that hire these people. This is totally part of the plan too right???

Definitely should be. Taking away the incentive to come illegally by issuing stiff penalties on individuals and corporations that exploit said immigrants is a much better way to curb illegal immigration.

There are a lot of real atrocities that can and do happen during mass deportation operations. Operation Wetback had some pretty terrible side effects that affected real people, many of them legal, in real and terrible ways.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Are you in favor of the US military being activated as an emergency measure to investigate, locate, and detain illegal immigrants in the US?

If we're all either vaporized or snarfing Iodine tablets and prepping to battle nuclear winter . . . none of this stuff will matter anyway.

Just sayin . . .

The answers (plural) is obvious.  Our trillion dollar (budgeted) military-intelligence complex is clearly completely inept.

They let Vlad Putin elect Trump not once, but twice.  Now they've apparently allowed a widely known about "Russian Asset" to continue to serve in our military.

If the New McCarthyites would just channel some of that zeal from their now long dead hero . . . they'd be having show hearings on The Hill all day, every day.

Instead it's just flaccid proclamations of "(insert name here) is a Russian asset"

Dr Oz will be in charge of Medicare/Medicaid.

Linda McMahon in charge of Education.

What will Kid Rock and Chachi be in charge of?

Peggy pos is if he pulls this off people will quickly realize how important immigrants are in this country and the only solution will be to establish easier paths to legal status than the ridiculous red tape we currently have.

What do you mean?

Let's say you take all of the illegal immigrants out of western Kansas. Do you think the residents get richer or poorer?

I'd like to know which residents you believe will get richer. The unemployment rate is like 2% and I don't think a lot of people will be interested in harder work with comparable pay to their current jobs.

The imitation thing would be so much more efficient if they just committed these vast resources entirely to securing the border, and managing legal border crossing efficiently.

Then, just declare everyone here illegally to now be on a work visa.

Simply stop the flow.

I feel like the first Trump administration talked a big game but didn't actually do much to back it up. Like, they only ever accomplished a small percentage of what they said they wanted.

I feel like the mass deportation stuff (and all their other current stuff) will be more of the same.

Serious question: has that really ever happened where a business starts paying significantly more in order to compete in a relatively small labor market? It makes sense but I’m simultaneously skeptical it would happen.

Even if they do pay more, the workers would be a whole lot less productive.

I think they would have to commit additional funds to salaries until they filled their required levels, or if the profit margin drops to below their cost of capital hurdle rate and then they just shut the rough rider down. One or the other. They’d try raising prices long before they shuttered a plant tho.

Are there lots of native-born Kansans lining up to work in Western KS meat factories? AFAIK, the only people taking those jobs have no other options for making a living in the global economy.

Multiple things can be true.

1. You can secure the border

2. You can have a robust work visa program

3. You can reform immigration laws that still have standards for immigration and an easier path for immigration

4. You can't allow people to just walk across the border and you can't cede control of the border to the worst people in the world while allowing some of the worst people in the world to walk right into our country, or at most giving them a piece of paper and a request to please show up somewhere at some future date and then letting them go

I know multiple things being true at the same time is a real stumper for some of you.

Special Note: The national guard had at least some involvement in (for example) removing the great unwashed from the virgin lands of Martha's Vineyard awhile back . . . when the crackers of Martha's Vineyard sent the migrants off with warm smiles, best wishes and the cry of "never come back".

Idiocracy stuff here folks. I guess she will be allowed to loot the department in the process of closing it down. Seems like a fair trade for her contributions to Trumps prior political campaigns.

We've got a major school system that thought they were still going to get Covid money and so they just went ahead and planted it in their budget.  Well, that money is gone and now they are or may have to go out and borrow the money to cover what they already built into their budget even though it didn't exist.  The mayor of that city then calls anyone who asks what happened in this situation a racist for asking why they mumped up so badly.

But yeah, lets not reform anything
