So here is the thing about the man in black.....

The rules seem to be that the hosts can't hurt the guests - their programming prevents them from physically doing any harm to the guests (not that bullets can't hurt the guests). The fact that it is only by programming is confirmed when the recovery team wears armor when the programming has potentially gone bad.

BUT THEN the guy (Dolores's boyfriend) is physically able to shoot the man in black, just the bullets don't hurt him. Also we know that hosts can function after getting shot because that one bad guy had milk pouring out of his wound and seemed perfectly fine.

Chris Nolan said the gun is made so it shoots a different projectile depending on the target but programming does not allow headshots at all, which is why teddy was unable to pull the trigger.

Also the bullets shot at guests are made to sting a little, like a paintball does, to give people a little bit of a "feeling" of getting shot.

Well that just ruins my whole theory then.

One episode in and they've already mentioned a half dozen bad engineering controls that allow a possibility of guests being injured.

KK told me some clams stories today which corroborate this notion.

I haven't watched episode 2 yet, but this show had me hooked.

How would you guys spend your time at West World?  Let's assume someone gave you a free trip gift certificate, or you won it at a raffle or something...so you are totally going.

What would you do?  Straight talk here, honest, let's get real.  I can sincerely tell you that I am unlike the man in black, because I have zero desire to murder a chick's boyfriend and then rape her. In fact, I wouldn't do either of those things, regardless of the order.

Most of what you COULD do in an old west world does not interest me.  I suppose I would "do it" (sex,if you know what I mean) with a robot, because hey you only live once, but beyond that  it seems like the old west would get boring.  All dirty and smelly, and the food would be terrible.

Pete, the original movie also had Roman world and medieval world. Would that interest you?

Ya, those would definitely be better for me.

Roman, then Medieval, then West World in order of preference.

I am really struggling to think of what I would enjoy doing in West World.

filmed in Castle Valley near Moab.  You should go in real life.
