Biz trip with a couple of coworkers. The local dude is hauling us in a Kia Telluride for the week. Captains chairs in the second row are quite nice. Mid tier trim package and it's loaded with options. Definitely adding it to my list.

Good ? clams.  Their Sequoia has the same engine as the Tundra.  I read that Toyota dealers won't take the new Tundras in trade-ins due to engine problems and the large amount of owners trying to get out from under them.

I probably won’t be buying for another 2 years, but maybe I should be looking at extended length Navigators and Expeditions?

My 2000 Toyota Tundra is still going strong. Now with 76,000 miles.

A 2000 tundra with 76k miles is probably worth around $40 million US

Have you considered driving it at some point?

I was going to suggest you get rid of it and just put an inflatable replica in your driveway.

Looks like issue is limited to 2022-2023 Tundras and Sequoias.  They are recalling the v6 and likely letting hybrid just get covered by warranties.  Amazingly shitty situation for the owners of those cars. They said 1 in 400 chance you have a bad one. Scary enough to keep dealers from want to trade for used ones.

If you didn’t need to depend on it as primary means of transportation, a fella could probably get one cheap and roll the dice and if it goes bad then let the warranty fix it.

They will need to replace the engine due to damage and cost for replacement could be up to $20,000.

Just a suggestion if you're shopping for new warranty trucks, due to over-supply, they are knocking off as much as 20% on new; and in some cases if it's a last-year model as much as 30%, which is at the dealer's loss.

$1700 for 4 new tires and an oil change is a little ridiculous

They are some Bridgestone all season with run flats. They are like $300 a piece. Cost about the same when I got similar ones a few years ago. Special order too because there weren’t any in the region

I always ask for hankook or Yokohamas or whatever and last year they sold me a full set but then were missing one! In the store so to “make it right”, because they didn’t have what they sold me, they gave me 4 Michelins at the cheaper price

I’m probably going to buy a new car pretty soon and just leave this one in KC so I have a vehicle when I fly back. I’m back so often that I’d rather just not have to worry about the time of year and just get there and drive.

Final 3:

2023 Toyota Highlander XLE - 21k miles
2024 Hyundai Palisade SE
2024 Kia Telluride LX

Prices are relatively comparable.  Test driving tomorrow.

not to be a car brand guy, but like if those are your final 3 and prices are comparable, i think we all know the right choice here
