I've probably blogged about this before, but I hate when people ask me, "So how has your day been?" while in the middle or near the end of some type of commercial transaction. Maybe it's a weird Texas Hospitality thing, but it makes no sense to ask me that as you're swiping my CSP and then giving me my card back and waiting for the receipt while I'm ready to grab my Mountain Dew Kick Start and Kickstart the day. Plus, you already asked me at the beginning how I was and I said, "good, and you?" and I didn't mind because that is the appropriate time to ask that type of question. When you ask me again, I want to say, "...still good," but I'm too fake polite (@Mrs. Gooch), so I have to say, "Not bad! Not bad... You?" "Oh it's been pretty good, you know, just working (this shitty job...)"
It doesn't bother me a ton, but it does feel really forced, and I wish they knew that they really don't need to put themselves through it for my sake.
