I think what scares me the most is the big 10 wanting to go above and beyond 16, which after the SEC gets their two will dillute the field to teams that add no major value to the Big 12. If that's the case I would prefer we sit at 10 forever.

If you go to 18, your scheduling options start to diminish in a hurry.

With 16 you can do pods, you can do divisions with a couple of cross divisional games, etc.

With 18, you have two divisions and maybe one cross divisional game per year. You really do move into having two separate conferences for all intents and purposes.

Go ahead and add Pitt to the Big 12 in any potential ACC doomsday scenarios (not gonna happen). Rivalries with teams that matter are important for the bottom line and more importantly television.

Apparently those people are not driving this bus. It's the people who live in major media markets but don't watch games on television or attend them that are driving the college athletics bus.

Just got my first bit of "inside" information on this subject. According to my source, someone in the admin at Wisconsin stated there will be a presser next week and Carolina and Ga. Tech will be joining the BIG, as they have accepted the offers. I live in WI, and the source is someone in my soon-to-be family, so I trust this information.

Kevin Harlan (NBA, NFL, CBS college bball announcer and KU alum) was on KC radio this morning. Said that very high level sources (that he trusts 100%) told him that the BIG was for sure going to 16 soon and most likely 20 - and is pushing very hard for Kansas (in the 20 group).

Pretty high level broadcaster to be talking about it and not a guy to throw around BS.
