There was an interview between Dean Blevins and David Boren a few weeks back on some news station in Oklahoma, and after the tape was done rolling, and Blevins was set to kick it back to the anchors, he said something to the effect of, "Don't be surprised to see Rutgers in this conference in the near future."  There was no video of it, but Blevins just threw that out there.

Now, he may just be spewing some bullshit, but I thought it was odd that it was the first thing out of his mouth after he just aired footage of a sit down meeting with Boren.

And Curtis is right; it's just a matter of time before we add Louisville.  The question is when, not if.

I saw that and thought it was odd also. I'm sure boren discussed that with him. You have to know these guys are talking to TV execs behind the scenes and obviously Rutgers is getting some talk based on their demographics. I would be willing to bet they have pulled ahead of Cincy in the race for #12. If BYU/Notre Dame falls through of course.

I just figure that losing three high major teams (and CU)

Snyder produced his second-worst win pct against CU compared to all other conference opponents during his tenure with the exception of Nebraska. In that time all they did was win a NC, had a Heisman winner, took/shared North titles and won four confy championships. Show some respect, son.

Then they got stoned and didn't give a crap anymore.

Sure glad we got rid of those big footed, snow stomping, Yeati rough ridin', bufflao riding hippies.

Best internet description of CU ever.  My hats off to you sir.  :drink:

If the reason the Big East killed talks with BYU (The Cougars TV demands are too much), then I can see why our talks ended abruptly and completely as were rumored.

Rutgers is also an AAU school, and their entry into the conference would bring us back up to four.  As it stands now, with the exception of the Big East, we're in dead last in the AAU category after the defections, and I'm sure the university presidents have that in the back of their minds.

If you want to create your own conference network, it wouldn't hurt to add the state school of New Jersey, with it's ~9 million residents and proximity to the NYC market.

Louisville and WVU bookend the Ohio Valley.  Rutgers delivers NJ and gets you into NYC simply due to proximity.

Also, think about the potential for neutral site games at the Meadowlands.  :excited:

If we stay at 10 teams, we will continue to be the best football conference. That is what I want.

Wondering if BYU will change their negotiation stance since our conf and BE have both said no to their initial demands.  A no from the BE may be a big wake up call considering BYU could potentially save their conf. Given that, maybe BYU re-approaches with less of a hard stance?  :dunno:

I think this process has allowed everyone to peek behind the curtain of how BYU is run, and because of that, everyone is running in the opposite direction.

Because of their desire to use BYU as a tool to promote the LDS, it's going to really hurt their ability to join a conference because they are serving the needs of the church before the needs of the athletic department and university.  If they don't change their tone, they'll essentially become the Harlem Globetrotters of FBS football, because there's a really, really low chance of them ever getting the ND sweetheart deal.

Yep. NYC will never be a college football market, but if you're looking to go to 12 teams and need to add revenue to make sure teams stay in the 18-20 million dollar range (if not more). Rutgers makes a hell of alot more sense than everyone available but Notre Dame.

Rutgers has also been part of four of the five highest-rated football games in the New York City area on ESPN. That list is headed by Rutgers-Louisville in 2006, which drew an 8.1 rating, and includes Rutgers-West Virginia in 2006 (6.04); USC-Ohio State in 2009 (3.74); Rutgers-Cincinnati in 2006 (3.62) and South Florida Rutgers in 2007 (3.35).

Rutgers football costs their University $19.  Not sure if this is relevant.

Hmmm......lil bro with all of their great facilities is valued at 14.9 mil?  Just above Idaho.

I'm pretty sure the AD had to borrow money from the University a while back to cover their losses.

No wonder their CFO called bowtie a putz.
