To be fair they wanted conference stability. They never said anything about internal stability.
Stability - the natural enemy of A&M. Conf, coach, bonfire structure.
The entire culture of the university (at least the AD) is built upon the foundation of an enormous inferiority complex.
I think the only good thing to come out of this move is if A&M can remove itself from Texas, maybe it can start to craft an identity that has more to do with what's better for Texas A&M as opposed to how they compare with Texas.
It's not a financial win, it's a PR net loss nationally (due to their reputation for being butt hurt liars), and they're joining the best division in all of college football. These are the kinds of decisions that you make when you're fueled on jealousy. They rarely, if ever, lead to stability and turn out well.
