quiet buzz on usf per decourcy.  time for at least a dozen people to give their opinion that it won't happen.  and then a dozen responses from pan.

you forgot the one post from me begging for this to happen and and also arguing to go get central florida as well.

In a regularly-scheduled meeting today at an undisclosed Dallas area location, the Big 12 Conference Board of Directors reaffirmed previous action to execute institutional grants of Tier 1 (over-the-air) and Tier 2 (cable) television rights to the Conference.

The Board also discussed a wide range of topics including NCAA legislation, the Bowl Championship Series, and exploration of a Conference dedicated TV network. Additionally, a strong desire for the University of Missouri to maintain its Big 12 affiliation was expressed. All 10 member institutions and TCU participated in the meeting.

If they discuss it but don't make one, I'll be pretty devastated.

Things seem to be turning the other way a bit. Let's see if Moo still goes to the SEC.

Making one and getting one on the air are two different things.  The BTN was only on satellite for its first year.  Comcast saved the network's ass, I doubt Comcast will give neary a damn about a Big 12 Network and I don't know how Cox Cable will react in a carriage negotiation.  Also worth noting that Fox is a majority owner in the BTN and that helps with distribution and carriage negotiations.  If a proposed B12N gets off of the ground who is going to bank roll it?  I don't think Disney will be interested in fronting the LHN and the B12N.

With four Texas schools, that network will be on every carrier in Texas within a year.  It will be on every cable network in Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, and wherever we go from here.

The model is set.  Fox knows how to make truckloads of cash on it now.  It may not be as profitable as the BTN, but it will be profitable.  They'll do it.

NBC can only own the network if its tier three or they make it a tier one network when the tier one rights are up in a few years and that isn't going to happen.

Of course it will be on most cable carriers in the area eventually.  No it won't be anywhere close to as profitable as the BTN is.  The BTN is on every cable carrier on the east coast, it will take a while if ever for that to happen with a potential B12N.  Cox and Time Warner are nothing to sneeze at but Comcast will have little to no interest in this network.

...one school official told the American-Statesman. “I’d say West Virginia is the leader in the clubhouse. I think we’ll come out better than before. I’d rather be with someone who wants to be with our conference than anybody who doesn’t.”

Asked why the Big 12 would be upgraded, the official said, “West Virginia has better football than Missouri, better basketball than Missouri, a better budget than Missouri and more passion among its fans than Missouri. They’re better, anyway you turn ‘em. The travel’s not good (to Morgantown, W. Va) but that’s it.

That means it will likely end up having the production value of that old Fox 6 news station out of Junction City with Gary Brauer.
