So, like, couple that with 13 year grant of rights and let's play sum footballllll.

UT doesn't want to concede HS content and go from 6 year GOR to 13 GOR.  There stance right now is either/or.  Early today their stance was HS content no matter what, so we will give 13 year GOR. They made a concession to do away with HS content, but dropped the 13 year GOR back to 6 year GOR.  Good negotiating tactic, but they may still concede to 13 year GOR if that's what it takes.

What upsets me about it is that it's like they're just doing it to be difficult.

according to Mike DeArmond on twitter UT is just trying to pull a bait and switch because of the pending ruling of the NCAA on high school content.

This seems like what's happening to me too. MU to the SEC just doesn't feel right (other than the Deliverance Cup). Why would any MU fan in their right mind (I know that's the problem) want to go to the SEC when the BXII is still alive and actually looking to lock down some stability? The best they can hope for in the SEC is to become another Kentucky and occasionally have a "1 win away from the championship game" season and be one of the better basketball teams.

They're like the girl that's actually kinda fugly, but she puts on a crap ton of makeup and whores herself out hoping to land the dreamy guy who is actually repulsed by her.

that makes the most logical sense.  but if they get the 13 years grant-of-rights that cuts them off at the knees for a Big 10 move.  i guess if the Big 10 and Mizzou want each other bad enough they have enough cash to cover the loss of revenue.

scenario:  Mizzou signs on to 13 year g-o-r.  10 years from now they move to Big 10.

in years 11,12,13 aren't all their tier 1/ tier 2 dollars going to go to big 12?

Yea, Steve the Grant Rights thing that they are wanting people to sign will say that all Tier 1 and Tier 2 revenue for the next (6 right now with the push for 13) would go to the Big 12 conference and then the Big 12 would hand out the money equally.  Funny thing is it will not stop a school from going to another conference in that they can go it just any game that schools plays that is part of tier 1 or tier 2, the money would go to the Big 12 not the new conference. Interesting point would be if said school would still get its equal distribution from the Big 12 if they left.

Interesting point would be if said school would still get its equal distribution from the Big 12 if they left.

So really, the GOR is less an incentive to stay, and more a disincentive for another conference to take them.  For example if MU left for the Big 10 in 7 years, they would get the exact same split they had been getting, but the Big 10 would see none of the MU revenue for 6 years, so they wouldn't touch them presumably.  If it happened anyway (which doesn't seem likely) the interesting thing would be whether or not the tier 1/2 Big 10 networks would air MU content that would be sending money to the Big 12.
