This feels a lot different than when A&M withdrew. After A&M withdrew, there were emergency sessions called about their admittance. Mizzou withdraws and they aren't even an agenda item in the SEC ADs meeting.
There isn't even a hint of buzz on the SEC side about assembling the presidents. Nothing. No leaks. However, on the WVU side, there are a ton of leaks that go so far as to say that Mike Slive and the SEC laid out a plan for WVU to admit, they've submitted said plan, Slive has been on campus, and the WVU board is in the process of approving the addition of new sports to that athletic department. Mizzou has conspiracy theories.
It seems to me that if MU actually had an offer, there would be something more substantial right now. But there's really nothing. Other than a leak from inside the MU administration where they view the SEC as a backup option, which undoubtedly will NOT go over well.
My head says they're going to push leaving as much as they can. My gut says they're coming back with their tail between their legs because they royally screwed this thing up in a very public way. From a circus of a press conference that said absolutely nothing (as half of the Big 12 had the same stupid thing) to outright revulsion from SEC country, this just feels more like OU getting the rejection letter than A&M getting the acceptance.
