There is no chance of any mass exodus at this point.  It seems obvious to me that no conference is going to 16.  The Pac 12 isn't and the Big Ten isn't and the SEC won't force them to do so either, there is simply no reason.  The SEC and ACC are left with an akward number of teams and have diluted their dollars and product.  As I see it currently the 1 SEC spot is the only spot left.  I bet the UPs of the SEC are pissed and wish they could give A&M back, now they are going to take someone else they don't really want like WVU.

They just may give aTm back anyhow.  If what T. Boone is saying is valid, they may be cooling on joining the SEC.

Think the Big12 would be interested in moving to 12?

I'm sure they're interested. Just not sure that any good candidates are willing to listen.

No Pitt + No Syracuse = Bad TV contract for Big East

Big 12-3 + BYU + Big East schools ='s much more money

I can't imagine that anyone wants to join a conference that nearly falls apart every year.

That being said, you've been right about almost everything else so far.

I would love for them to stay at 10 but it seems 12 is some kind of magic number for stability.  The two conferences short of 12 were the only ones being vultured.  If the Big 12 got their crap together there would be plenty of teams interested.  I think at this point the SEC tells A&M thanks but no thanks and the Big 12 should go get BYU and Louisville.

Nice to see Texas kind of getting boxed out of every cool club.  I'm going to Austin this Thursday and I will be sure to alert people of this fact every chance I get.  Will report back.   :users:

That isn't what happened here.  UT didn't want to accept the Pac 12s terms.  They rejected Larry Scott, not the other way around.

It would absolutely make sense. But if there's anything we've learned, it's that perception is apparently worth more than a legitimate contract.

Maybe you should make us a map of what the new Big 12 could look like. I think everyone would benefit from that.

Stability could come with all of the following probably having to happen:

1) Firing of Beebe
2) Equal Revenue Restructuring
3) New Commissioner with full conference power
4) Adding 11th and 12th teams
5) Increasing the penalty for leaving the conference at or above the same level as ACC's new penalty ($20 mill I think)

Think the Big12 would be interested in moving to 12?

Or let Slive keep Aggie and go get you West Virginia, Louisville, and BYU.

And then let the SEC cherry pick one of the ACC schools since they don't want West Virginia anyhow.

After this thing gets redrawn in a couple of weeks everything that happened before won't matter at all.  First, because the superconference model is dead.  Secondly, the conference will be stable and don't forget the tier one rights are coming due soon and ESPN will have competition, the Big 12 is going to get a huge television deal.

New Big 12.  Just swap A&M with TCU if you feel so inclined.

BYU and Louisville join North.

That gets the conference to the new tv contract, five years is significant after that if they get what is expected no one will want to leave.

No one is joining this stupid, backwards ass league if the guarantee is 5 stupid f*cking years.  5 years.  5 f*cking years.  I'm sure the tier 1 contract that comes up in what?  3 years is really going to be top notch.

FOX and ESPn will just be falling over themselves to pay a sh*t load of money knowing that more than likely that their investment will leave the conference after the 2nd year.

5 years is a ridiculous amount of time for two teams who have tested other waters two years in a row.  Ultimately, this gives the conference enough time to get a solid foundation and set of rules created that would hopefully prevent this mess from happening in foreseeable future.  Ideally, this will hopefully set up the conference for having a commissioner that attains full control.
