Explain to me how this makes sense in your head? You think the Big 12 schools are going to leave the Big 12 for the MWC or AAC?

This dude has these eight schools voluntarily disbanding their own conference for a conference with smaller markets and a smaller media deal. LOL what is going on with some of you?

Why/how would the remaining 8 schools stick together? When OU and UT leave, and our existing TV contract is up, we won't be able to command the money anymore.

I guess we don't HAVE to leave, but we'll drop to G5 money and TV deals either way.

Because the Big 12 has autonomy status. And whatever the new Big 12 looks like would definitely have a better media deal than either the aac or mwc, combined.

What is autonomy status and who controls it?  I would think it can be snatched away with our only top tier schools leaving.

The left behind schools should leave the NCAA and start paying players market value. We would get all of the best recruits and have the best college football league in America for a few years until the SEC does the same.

Oh, we are being serious. Paying 18 year olds minor league salaries to play football is a terrible idea for schools and for student athletes. Go read an article or watch a video of how minor league athletes have to live and tell me that's the life we want for young people away from home for the first time.

They would still be students, still supported on scholarship if they care about academics. They would just also get actual salaries based on how much money they do (or are expected to) generate for the school.

It ends 2025, as that's the end of our current contract.  Also it would be stupid for the Big XII to dissolve before the contract ends, since we can also collect GOR media rights money if Texas and/or OU leave early.  I do believe we need to invite the four teams out of those who want in before our contract(s) end.  This way they will be in place and ready to play in 2025.

It would be great if we wait until the PAC start TV contract negotiations.  There is a lot of dissension in the PAC as it stands, since they have the worst show times and get paid the least in the P5.  It might end up a merger of select Big XII and PAC XII teams to start a new conference.

i want to believe that too.  but logic tells me that texas is going to do whatever they want.  because they do and always will have more money than we do by a very wide margin. and because of that, these contracts aren't worth a thing.
