I agree. That's also why I believe BYU should get zero accommodations for their Sunday travel concerns. That is their rough ridin' problem.

BYU is the most valuable school out there, but they aren't valuable enough to deal with all of their baggage, regardless of whether or not they have a right to do all of the things they want to do.

I think the Big 12 and BYU want to make it work for a lot of reasons, but again, I just don't think they'll find enough common ground. Which is sad because I don't think anyone would really dislike having BYU on the schedule regularly in any sport.

It's the institution that forces you to sign that statement if you want to be a student there that is bigoted.

It's the institution that forces you to sign that statement if you want to be a student there that is bigoted.

No one makes those students go to BYU, they ought to know what they are signing up with. BYU is well within their rights as a private university to conform their honor code to whatever they want BUT if they want to be part of our larger club (the Big 12) they'd need to cede those policies that the club finds abhorrent or the club needs to begin tolerating those policies among it's member institutions. When presented with those 2 options for reconciliation, i don't think we should be considering the later.

given the recent news about NCAA pulling championships out of N.C. due to religious freedom law, I wonder whether NCAA action against BYU is on the horizon.

maybe that's something the BigXII doesn't want to deal with - even though BYU makes the most TV$$ sense.

BYU is well worth it when it comes to sports/big 12 vs a bunch of collegiate paper advocates. Both sides need to stay in their lane. Only one of these parties will Lose and it's not the best option for the big 12

There are a lot of reasons BYU may not be a good fit. On paper, when it comes to football, they fit. But in just about every other conceivable way, they don't.

The Big 12 can't invite more controversy. We already have a Baylor problem. We already have a stability problem. If the rest of the school populations have decided that they don't want to share a conference with BYU, then we need to move on.

BYU knows what they need to do to get in. They know what we are looking for. If they don't want to comply, that's their right. It's our right to tell them that we will move in another direction. The Big 12 doesn't need to be a part of some religious freedom debate. That's the last thing this damn conference needs.
