It did not. Arkansas left the SWC because it was a small, regional conference. Any conference big timed by Arkansas can't possibly be seen as a major conference.

A good conference, and a conference is nothing more than the majority vote of its current members, would potentially take KSU to get to a desired number of members and have those last additions be schools they can beat in sports and won't ever rock the current members' boat yet has some name recognition.

History may have set no precedent, but I can't imagine any power conference taking us if OU/UT leave. We might stay some patched together version of the Big12 but it certainly won't be considered a power conference.

I'll listen to arguments that OU and Texas won't leave, but if they do I'd like to hear who would actually take us in.

A power conference already took us once and we were in much much worse shape then. You guys are proposing the Big 12 saying, good bye K-State when the first change happened in 1995. We survived in 1995 but we wouldn't now? Hopefully you can acknowledge that scenario makes no sense.

If Texas leaves, and they won't, but lets say Texas and OU leaves. That means either one or two conferences are going to 16. In that case that means the Pac 12, Big 12, and ACC are being significantly altered. Once again if this happened and schools are being left out we'd be a great deal down that list. Do you think a dozen of schools across the nation are going to lose power five status. I know we are little shitty old K-State, but this scenario isn't likely. Can we eventually turn into something that happened to the Big East? I guess it's possible but we'll all be dead by then so who the eff cares?

I just don't know if I see that happening if KU gets a ticket to the Big 10. I don't think the Big 10 will take us as a package deal and there's no way the BOR would tie us together if it meant keeping KU out of the Big 10. If the PAC offers first for KU and Texas we might be able to sneak in as a four team deal.

The other conferences give exactly zero fucks about this.  It has absolute no impact at all if another conference takes us or not if the Big12 continues its down slide to a slow death.

What's matters more is that we got passed over for just as many at large bids that we deserved while playing in a power conference because we are Kansas State

We get accepted into major bowls we don't deserve more often than we get passed over. Just look at our bowl record.

Yeah... The 95, 98, 99 and 02 teams all got the shaft in bowl selection. All four of those squads would easily be NY6 picks in the current construct. You could probably make a compelling argument for the 00 team since two of its three losses were to the eventual national champion.

That is probably true. It was poor contractual language on their part.

It could break a few ways. We take the money now, refuse to extend the GOR, and go forward and let hell break loose in 8-9 years. We negotiate a smaller deal, extend the GOR, and bet on these schools growing into legit P5 programs.

Or we just say to hell with it and drop the whole thing.

Either way, every school needs to take this money and grow their profile. In less than a decade, we may be back in the singles market.
