This St. Petersburg bowl turf is the worst I've seen.

Yeah, most of the time I see an NFL game on artificial turf I think the field looks like ours. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

It is literally the worst field I have ever seen. There must be about fifty random pieces of turf just shoved in throughout the entirety of the field.

If you are watching this St. Petersburg Bowl and are comparing this turf to anything you've ever seen before then you are lying to yourself. This is wooftown like I've never seen before.

Guys, it's the exact same turf as ours. The only difference is that they have patches where the mound and the baselines are. Most stadiums don't have full dirt infields like the Trop does so their patches have to be bigger than normal. Don't know if anyone noticed or not but they have a MLB/Rays/FieldTurf logo on their third base line for baseball, they didn't cover that up so it was awkwardly sitting on the paint in NCSU's endzone.

Should have left the dirt uncovered imo.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Turf sucks anyway. KSU needs to quit being small-time and get grass.

agreed. let it grow longer the Baylor/TCU/Auburn type game weeks.

you'd think snyd's has already tried to push for this.

I've heard it's really difficult to grow good football grass in our part of the country because the climate is so extreme (hot and cold)

It is. Plus turf is really nice, consistent, and it doesn't matter if it's wet. I'd much rather have turf and IMO grass at K-State by November would look terrible.

I'd like to have the good kind of turf though. Seems like a simple thing to ask for but nope, we got sold on the garbagey one. Again.

There are plenty of grass fields in the Midwest, even ISU has one. There are grass fields in the desert. Hell, University of Phoenix Stadium has a grass field for a indoor venue that they have on a tray that they store in the parking lot.

Iowa has more tame summers and can use cool-weather grass (that still looks like crap) while places like Arizona (and the southeast) can use warm weather grass. This is what I've been told. I'm sure you remember that Mizzou went from astroturf to grass and then back to the field turf, I'm guessing for the same reason we have turf.

That field at the St. Pete Bowl last night looked 200x worse than our field has ever looked, and it wasn't just because of the patchwork turf to cover up baseball fields. It was because of super bizarre turf pellet distribution, imo. Either way, we've clowned on that horrible field before and last night it looked waaay worse than it ever has. (That's not to say Wagner Field doesn't look shitty, though. It does.)

ISU's grass looks good. Somehow. Arrowhead's grass is terrible.

Hmmm, didn't even realize Mizzou was back on turf. I don't remember their grass looking burned or browned, but I do remember it looking generally shaggy and unkempt.

OSU owns the patent (or whatever) for the seed for the best playing field grass available.  They have the best turfgrass research program in the world.  Even they have artificial turf.

We could do natural grass, but it would never stand up to the amount of usage due to Snyder insisting on it being our primary practice surface.
