You know what's a really good movie? The hills have eyes. It really has it all.

little bit too sadistic for me to enjoy

Yeah, the rape scene is a bit much, but overall it's very entertaining.

i can't recommend Oculus enough.

i just want to reiterate, and maybe puniraptor can help me out here, that this is an incredible horror movie.

We live in rural NC and have terrible internet access, so streaming movies is pretty much out of the question. We've had Netflix for many years and have seen probably half of all the horror movies they have on there. Some of the better ones (no order):

Blood Creek
The Midnight Meat Train
The Theatre Bizarre
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (more of a comedy)
Shutter
The Orphanage

Reading through this thread, I've added Martyrs, Audition and Funny Games to our queue. I see "Open Grave" is coming tomorrow. Pan's Labyrinth wasn't all that scary, but had some pretty memorable scenes. Need to watch that one again one of these days.

I've seen it.  What would you like to say about it?
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.

It was very good. The reveal was excellent. The way they make you unsure of what is real and what is imagined throughout the movie is excellent. And the ending was excellent. Thank you for the recommendo, puni.

the #acting was distractingly poor, even for a horror/thriller

Bumping this thread to see if any of you have seen good horror in the past six years that I can enjoy this month. It looks like there are some in here already that I haven't seen.

I hate horror movies. My wife loves them. So sometimes I just bite the bullet and see one for brownie points.

We went and saw Smile over the weekend, it’s frightening and actually pretty decent.

Their planting people on public TV, like NFL games, has caught my attention and I'm thinking about going to the theater for it.

recent successful offerings from Aster, Eggers, Flanagan:
Hereditary
Midsommar
The Witch
The Lighthouse
Haunting of Hill House
Midnight Mass

also classics like Rosemary's Baby, the Exorcist, and the Shining are all still very good

I watched THE VVITCH again recently. I get that it's not for everyone, but it has the flavors I crave. How old was ATJ at that time?

Since you like Hereditary and Midsommar (great rough ridin' movie), have you seen X or Red Rocket?
