Report after watching 3 of the most infamous slasher trilogies of all time:
1. The Friday the 13th series has the most classic themes of slasher movies of all time, pretty much set the standard for them.
2. Nightmare on Elm Street is my favorite. So much fun, and really clever death scenes throughout the series. Some of the overall plot lines got pretty bogus, but since it was already such a bizarre concept it kind of worked. Loved that they made Freddy this charismatic killer who had one liners and a face to him instead of a mask like every other slasher killer.
3. Halloween is definitely the most suspenseful. The third one doesn't have Michael Myers in it because they were originally going to have Michael killed off after the second movie and continue to do scary stories that all happened to fall on Halloween. After the third one failed so terribly they brought Michael back for the rest of the series. They explain away the deaths of the second movie pretty laughably, but hey, it's a horror movie, what can you do.
