in the vein of breaking bad, sopranos etc the wire is hands down my favorite. Seasons 3 and 4 are just spectacular.

i'm only on season 3 so probably not the most qualified to speak on it. it's not like it's incredibly groundbreaking or anything like that, but it is well-written, has a fantastic network of characters, and is definitely a ball grabber. definitely one of my favorite crime dramas so far, and i'm just getting into the seasons people typically reference as the best. i would absolutely recommend - it's only 60 episodes i think so not an overwhelming commitment. you'll know right off the bat if it's something you're into or not.
