how often do you surface and get some fresh air?
How long can you stay under without surfacing? Do you have some special machine that removes the oxygen from the water and pumps in the oxygen into the sub so you can stay under forever in case of nuclear fallout at sea level? Wouldn't that be way to much oxygen to breath? (not enough hydrogen and nitrogen?)

You're closer to correct than incorrect, dobber.

Anyone want to see what a torpedo and/or tomahawk missile can do?

Dont want to tread on shaky ground with it.

Submarines are just underwater air planes.

Should call them waterplanes.

Or airplanes could become supermarines

there is hydrogen in water too dobby
Yes, I realize that now, but my question is still accurate, because in my scenario, with the super machine that I referenced, it only extracted the oxygen. Someone just needs to invent a better machine, one that extracts oxygen and hydrogen from the water.
Hydrolysis.

Carbon filters for the air handler. We'd survive.

Oh man, follow up...what happens when somebody dies and you are all silent and not resurfacing for another 8 months? Is the family notified?

That depends on the mission. Sometimes, a tug boat would meet you an hour or so from port to take him home. Sometimes you just had to wait.

Family stuff is the main reason I left the Navy. I didn't want to watch my kids grow up via pictures. I travel somewhat now but I'm home the majority of the time.

:Woohoo: :Woohoo:

They already have hydrolysis machines as well as CO2 scrubbers and air scrubbers (fart absorbers).  Sorry Dobber. Already invented.
