I guess the stats might back him up, but doesn't film show that he's clearly the most worthless guy on the team?  Maybe I'm wrong.  I would be  :horrorsurprise: if I was tho.

Can the numbers be a bit deceiving? Yes. Do they outright lie? No.

He has had immense value (and played a lot) for each coach he's played for, including one that supposedly hated him. :dunno:

One of those things I guess.

Also, there are no signs that Gip is "outmatched" in conference play. He was a beast (scoring and boarding) last year against Big 12 bigs:

Glad I'm wrong then, good to have non worthless players!     Good news on Gip too.   :Woot:  But what will we do for 4 then?  Westicles?  I want Hurt to start.   :Crybaby:  Could part of him doing well against B12 bigs be Henriquez tho?

We really don't need much of anything next year that a freshman or JUCO guy can provide.  We actually have pretty decent balance.

Well, I should elaborate on that.  We won't get much of anything from what will be available that we can actually recruit.

I'll say what I've always said about Will; he's at his best when you really don't remember him playing. He hits open shots, but probably not too many. He doesn't get beat badly on defense and gets a few steals. He has a few assists, but nothing eye popping.

He's really frustrating to watch when he doesn't hit shots, but he clearly (in the eyes of his coaches) does some valuable things.

The one thing I've notice most about him this year is that he's hitting the boards much better than last year. His improvement on steals is notable as well.

I don't see a hell of a lot here to suggest Will has great value. He doesn't make many turnovers, which should be expected of someone who basically reverses the ball. And anyone expecting he is going rain 3s for a stretch hasn't paid attention to his career to date.

I don't mind will this year nearly as much as I did last year.  It is because he is playing better and his offensive use will decline.  We still need him as a 3pt shooter.  I wish we had a backyard shooter too, but we don't.  We have will.  Is what he is.  He is actually quite a bit better than Clent Stewart.  Mostly because he is not playing point and he doesn't turn the ball over.

Good points. Even without Jevon his %Shots was only above DJamer and Westicles (and Wesley is a FT rate machine) and his %Poss was the lowest on the team, so his use is already a ball mover, assists "within the offense", and hit a few shots.

I'm hopeful he can shoot 35% 3PT in Big 12 play (last year he shot 40% 3PT in Big 12 games.)

There is nothing a person can say to convince me that Spradling should play even 5 mpg.  He is absolutely awful, I'm pretty sure one of his FTs hit the backboard yesterday.

He's FT shooting this year is weird. He's never had a season below 82% in his career and he's shooting 68%. He has to be playing mind games with himself.

They said he had the nips or the yips or something on the radio broadcast. It didn't sound to serious. Hopefully clears up quickly what ever it is.

Three emerging role players
1. Jevon Thomas, Kansas State: Jet quick point guard has played just two games for the Wildcats and has dished out 10 assists without committing a single turnover. Ineligible for the first semester for academic reasons, Thomas' presence should only enhance Kansas State's perimeter that already features Will Spradling, Shane Southwell and freshman Marcus Foster.

Has played 2 games and CBS is already all over his ball.

He did.  Just has issues with players faster and stronger than him.

don't worry guys, future looks bright for our guy to start soon:
