Waters is an average QB. Pretty good thrower, decent decision maker, average runner. Anyone who thinks he is elite is wrong, and anyone who thinks he is awful is wrong. I've never stood up for him, because he is what he is. But it's laughable that the dude completes 65% on his passes, 400 yards and people act like he's terrible. He made a lot of mistakes last night, but who DIDN'T? That was a crap team performance. Even Lockett fuggin' fumbled. O-Line was dominated. How about Mueller (except for one play) getting just abused the entire game?

Again, Jake is average. Once we all can accept that, it'll be easier to digest these good games and bad games.

I'd say this is more on the O-line, specifically the run blocking/coaches abandoning the run game.

If you're looking at the aggregate of the season, top 3, fine.  Right now, with a bum wing and/or fear to run, he's really relying on his arm to beat teams, and that's dangerous.

The run game was crap because WVU was selling out to stop it. This opened up the pass game, and Waters was good enough to take what the defense was giving him. That's not to say Waters is bad, just that the lack of a running game didn't really make things harder for him. A poor running game only makes things harder on the QB when it allows the defense to play the pass.
