Unless you need help to move around, you shouldn't put off starting a work out regimen. Don't get caught up in one idea of what that needs to be either. For example, don't tell yourself that once you get to a certain weight, you will start running two miles a day, or something like that but since you couldn't do that now you aren't gong to try. Start doing something now. Doesn't have to be anything earth shattering either. For instance, if you can't run far at all right now, start with intervals where you run 30 seconds or a minute, then walk a minute or two, then repeat for 20 min or whatever. Something like that will accelerate what you are trying to do and you will gain muscle while doing it making it easier to intensify your workout as you go.
Not only is it good for the physical benefits but working out gives ppl confidence and being sore from workouts is a constant reminder that you are working towards something, and it is a much better to have that as a reminder than it is to have being hungry or denying yourself something as the only reminder that you are working towards something. It makes it much easier to be positive and to stay focused.
If you don't know where to start, hire a trainer at the Y for one session. It will be like $25. If you don't have a Y membership and don't plan to get one, they will let you use the facility once or twice free of charge if you tell them you are looking into getting a membership. Often, they also have complementary trainer sessions the first or second visit to get you some basic info. That would be enough to get what you need to get stated and could be done with no expense.
