About a year ago I gave up drinking heavier beers (pale ales, IPAs, porters, etc.) for about 2 months, and only drank light beers...Lost 10 lbs.

I still enjoy the good stuff from time to time, but if its going to be a binge night then I try to stick to Coors Light. Seems to work.  :Woot:

That's a real dumbass diet IMO. Drink the good stuff, eat less shitty fried food instead. No offense, grats on 10 lbs and being miserable.

Nobody enjoys a good pale ale more than me...just saying what yielded results. Moderation tho.

Started dieting a couple weeks ago and got a couple comments over the past few days about looking skinnier. This is usually when I call it good. Not this time!

Pretty much just eating salad, salmon, broccoli, chicken and brown rice, and once a week I food binge for a meal to keep me sane. I also fast for a 36 hour period once a week while downing tons of water.

That doesn't seem sustainable, why even go through the work if you're not going to keep it up long term?

I'm a very all or nothing person. I like to set weight lifting goals, eat a ton in order to meet them, then diet hardcore while maintaining those workouts. Once I get to a point I'm comfortable with, I start eating a lot again in order to meet my next goal.

I went to the dr today because I thought I might have the flu( :ohno:) but ended up just being an upper respiratory infection (). Anyways they did all the normal stuff like height/weight and the scale said the same thing the one at the gym says. Which I always thought was like 20 lbs off, so needless to say I will be rereading this thread again.

Oh man, if I could live every week like it's finals week I would be emaciated.  I would also die at the age of 36 (generous) from stimulant abuse and no sleep.

Do you guys ever get bored of eating?  Sometimes I'll go to the store to pick up dinner/groceries and leave with hardly anything because nothing sounds appetizing.

No.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I'll do this, and then be pissed off the next day when I don't have any food in the house.

I just got started last week.  It wasn't so much of a resolution as it was just time to get it done.  I have quite a bit of work to do but am off to a good start.  10 lbs down in the first week.  The only part that I miss is the booze.  I am totally off of it until I get to my goal.   :emawkid:

You lost 10 lbs in one week?  That doesn't seem healthy.  What's your goal?

I need to lose a lot.  I have been eating around 1,500 calories and doing a somewhat low carb diet.  I am also eating something about every two hours.  So far, I haven't started a workout regimen yet but I plan to once I drop more lbs.  Strange thing is I really haven't been hungry since I started.....

It's not really that strange.  Eating several times a day keeps you sustained and prevents you from binge eating.  Sounds like you've got a good plan.  Hope you hit your goal.

Unless you need help to move around, you shouldn't put off starting a work out regimen.  Don't get caught up in one idea of what that needs to be either.  For example, don't tell yourself that once you get to a certain weight, you will start running two miles a day, or something like that but since you couldn't do that now you aren't gong to try.  Start doing something now.  Doesn't have to be anything earth shattering either.  For instance, if you can't run far at all right now, start with intervals where you run 30 seconds or a minute, then walk a minute or two, then repeat for 20 min or whatever.  Something like that will accelerate what you are trying to do and you will gain muscle while doing it making it easier to intensify your workout as you go.

Not only is it good for the physical benefits but working out gives ppl confidence and being sore from workouts is a constant reminder that you are working towards something, and it is a much better to have that as a reminder than it is to have being hungry or denying yourself something as the only reminder that you are working towards something.  It makes it much easier to be positive and to stay focused.

If you don't know where to start, hire a trainer at the Y for one session.  It will be like $25.  If you don't have a Y membership and don't plan to get one, they will let you use the facility once or twice free of charge if you tell them you are looking into getting a membership.  Often, they also have complementary trainer sessions the first or second visit to get you some basic info.  That would be enough to get what you need to get stated and could be done with no expense.

You are right.  I guess I should clarify.  I'm not just sitting around doing nothing.  I am getting out and playing bball with the kiddos in the evenings and stuff like that.  Just haven't started a strict regimen yet.  Time to start.
