we have time warner and i was online chatting with one of their reps this morning and when i said i wanted to upgrade to digital cable they gave me a quote of $120/month. when i said that it wasnt competitive and uverse has a deal for $85/month and google fiber has the $120/month but i get better internet and a kick ass tablet remote deal, the rep said "were showing neither of those companies have service in your area right now." when i looked, she was right.

Maybe try telling them that you want to keep their internet service and just cancel the tv because you are switching to directv and it's going to save you like $50 per month. :dunno:

Just realized U-verse doesn't get CW so i can't watch the premiere of Whose Line Is It Anyway tonight. SONOFABITCH.

Dubdub, 72 hour review?

I'm about to pull the trigger. how is the internet?

So far I like it. :dunno:

Haven't noticed the internet being slow at all. Didn't realize they have the wireless router covered...so my personal one isn't needed anymore

I kind of miss not being able to just hook up a tv to any random coax jack in the house.
Also their channel order takes a while to get used to.

I think i got the UV300 tv package. I noticed i don't have CBS college sports like i think i should have.

Double check they have fiber running to your house...really makes things easy if they do.

The wireless router that they provide is pretty shitty speed wise though.  I bought a new one and hardwired it.  I run all of my internet and networking needs (streaming HD movies around the house) through the new router.  The only thing that runs through the 2WIRE router (wirelessly) is the TV.

Just my $.02

how hard is this?  I imagine only changing a few settings in the routers?

I currently have U-Verse with the fiber wired to my house.  We bought a new house across town.  I'm trying to figure out what to do.  I think I'm going to call AT&T, tell them I'm cancelling my service because the new house doesn't have the fiber coming to the house.  Whatever their reaction is, I'm just going to say "I already know what i want from Cox and it costs $115ish, so unless you'll run a wire to my new house for free and give me the Cox price, we're done."   :ohno: about what their reaction is.

Sidenote: I've been told that since my current house has the U-Verse fiber ran up to it, I'll be able to charge an addtional ~$30 per month in rent.

AT&T Uverse wasn't available at our new house so went with Surewest.  Was a pretty good deal.  TWC didn't even try to be competitive.  Bitch never even emailed me the chat log.

Did you build?  If so, that was quick.  We were talking builders in April.

No, didn't build.  Were looking at some spec homes but got a great deal on a FSBO in Lenexa (like in town).  Original owner, OCD engineer.  He even had "as built" drawings for it.  And I didn't want to mess with anything during  :lynchmob: season.

I moved in mid July and received a quote of $106 for HD DVR U200, Internet, and 2 free wireless receivers. Got my first bill and it was like $150. I was all  :chainsaw: and called Att. Went through like 3 customer service reps (surprised me they're usually really flexible). Anyway eventually threatened to go to Directv and the rep was like hold on let me speak to my manager. That manager gives me a quote of all that I mentioned above for $93. I was like  :Woohoo:  I just dread next year when I have to go through this hoop again. Pro tip: call their retention line rather than chat or regular customer service.

Our bundle with Uverse just went up.  We pay over $180 for internet, two DVR boxes, HBO and Showtime.  That seems really high.  Surewest just moved into our neighborhood and they seem to have some good specials.  Probably going to make a switch.

Unless you want to switch just threaten. They'll make it competitive. Besides surewest is trash and would never switch to them unless the deal was over the top better.

Trash? I recently switched back to Surewest from TWC and I've been really pleased.
- Picture quality is quite good, on par with TWC and significantly better than uVerse.
- I'm paying for basic 10mb/s internet, and I'm getting closer to 11.
- Pricing is ridiculously cheap, way better than TWC and maybe cheaper than uVerse?
- My only complaint is the WH-DVR. It works fine, but there's an annoying lag in navigating the menu/guide.

I'm paying about $95/mo, including all taxes and fees, for something like 75 HD channels (everything except premium), WH-DVR on two TVs, and 10mb/s internet. 1 year contract and a $100 Visa GC plus an extra $50 off the first bill. TWC wanted about $165 for all that.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Okay, we went ahead and made the switch.  Keep in mind our bill at Uverse had just gone up to $180.

With SureWest we have a bundle for internet and digital TV.  Internet operates at up to 18 Mbps and the digital TV comes with HBO and two boxes both with DVR.

Total cost:
First month :$11.44
Second month $61.44
3-12 months $86.44

Net savings over course of a year $1223.60   :Woot:
