At first I was like I kind of know those names but good lord wgaf?  but then I decided I need something like this so I need to know should I be team Lazlo or team affentra?

I want one poster from each team lay out their case.  I will pick my favorite then throw my influence behind them as they crush the other in the winner take all battle of KC FM radio afternoon pop music talk

I thought the street car was the most KC argument, then the airport debate happened, but now we have distilled the kansas city down to that uncut KC talk about local radio personality's personal lives.

I used to casually listen to lazlo years ago, but the thing that stuck out most in my memory was them always talking about panty hose porn. Flipped it on on my way home tonight and they go straight into panty hose porn.

When I was in high school I helped build some dog kennels under my friends deck for their hunting dogs. When they moved Lazlo bought the house and every once in a while would complain about the kennels on air.

What I'm saying it that made me relate to him.

That made me think of another poster that bought Jason Whitlocks house. I think it was shell shock.

I think it was. IIRC he had a hot tub in his basement and hot pink carpet or something to that effect.

The city has promised no taxpayer funds will be used for the project, which was overwhelmingly approved by voters in November 2017. Airlines will be responsible for any cost overruns.

Why is the city considered issuing Special Obligation Bonds?

The assertion that the public isn’t paying anything is based on the airport’s claim that airport revenue and airline lease and user agreements will cover the bond debt service.  There definitely are, however, possible circumstances that could render this claim inaccurate, ultimately exposing taxpayers. The point isn’t whether the airport’s optimistic scenario is valid. Rather, the point is whether voters will have a chance to evaluate whether they want to accept the financial risks of proceeding with a project involving immense public debt.

Instead, City Hall has again decided to lie to its constituents.

They did. They approved it by a vote of 76%.

No, that’s exactly not what was approved and City Hall knows it.
So what’s the driver then, for the Special Obligation Bonds?  Oh that’s right, to get around voter approval requirements.

I don't know what special obligation bonds to which you are referring.

Get your gal Teresa Loar on it. She has a girl boner for this not happening. That or Taylor.

I'm not the muni bondCst you are. Wouldn't those be the bonds you issue to you know, do the project?

The voting language even says no general airport bonds. These aren't general airport bonds?

Did you think this was a straight cash deal?

okay I googled my face of for you clams, is this what you are talking about?  a year old story about using conduit bonds?

https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2018/01/18/edgemoor-commits-to-financing-that-will-save-90m.html

Quote
One reason a selection committee chose Edgemoor’s proposal over three others in September was that it was the only one that included the possibility of 100 percent financing though privately placed public debt. That debt, which would consist of “conduit bonds” issued through an agency such as Port KC or the Platte County Industrial Development Authority, would result in lower annual financing payments for the project, City Manager Troy Schulte, a member of the selection committee, said at the time.

Edgemoor’s 100 percent public debt option would result in interest costs only slightly higher than those the city typically achieves by using city-issued Airport Revenue Bonds for airport improvements. But unlike those bonds, conduit bonds do not have to be specifically approved by voters.

You are now cla(i)ming these conduit bonds are putting the city's general fund at risk?  If that's the case this is huge news and you should send this right to Jolie Justus so she can put a halt to this sham.  Don't waste this year old story on us!

edit...What are conduit bonds?  I didn't know, so I googled that too....here is what that says:

Quote
What is Conduit Issuer
A conduit issuer is an organization, usually a government agency, that issues municipal securities to raise capital for revenue-generating projects where the funds generated are used by a third party (known as the "conduit borrower") to make payments to investors. The conduit financing is typically backed by either the conduit borrower's credit or funds pledged toward the project by outside investors. If a project fails, and the security goes into default, it falls to the conduit borrower's financial obligation, not the conduit issuer.

Risks for Conduit Issuers
Higher returns come with a higher risks, and since conduit bonds are not backed by the full faith and credit of the issuing government or agency, it's important for investors to understand they are investing in the project, not the conduit issuer.
