I have noticed in the last few years that I have started to like vegetables that I used to dislike. Like brussel sprouts, cabbage, and spinach.
Looks like Nature's magical journey for ladies has begun!

Another one of my favorite veggies is cilantro.  Maybe I'll make some for Clams the next time he has a dinner party.

Good news - lots of recipes feature cilantro in the slow cooker cookbook I linked.

thank you for the tips michigancat, although how does one deal with bean flatulence issues? Seems like it would be a potential tripwire in polite company.

Red peppers man, they're more like a fruit! (because of the sweetness, don't throw this comment into the sys/chingon debate)

jakesie, those are vegetables.

Both olives and mushrooms are on a veggie lover's pizza.  Argumentum ad populum quod erat demonstratum.

because they are fruits that vegetable lovers enjoy on their pizzas.

Also, how the eff can you eat one piece of asparagus then go directly to the bathroom and your pee already smells???

she didn't even know about the phenomenon, somehow...

the worst is smelling someone else's asparagus pee :(

The irony is that only one of those (carrot) is actually a vegetable... quick rule of thumb (beyond asking yourself "is this the fruiting body of a plant (the reason why mushrooms are closer to being a fruit than a veggie, though it is neither) is, if you are eating the whole of a plant, its a veggie, if its just the good part you pluck off, a fruit.

but why all the segregation of plants? can't we all agree that there are some really yummy ones out there?

Asparagus is expensive because it takes 2 years to grow.

Has anyone said radishes yet? I love those son of a bitches.

they take 2 years to grow to harvest size, then they produce yearly... avocados by that rational should be worth their weight in gold since they take like 8 or 10 years to fruit (though they are actually relatively pricy)  asparagus is expensive because it is very perishable and has a short growing season, so in the spring it can be really cheap, but out of season, you're getting greenhouse or Chilean stock, and thats expensive

sweet potatoes and asparagus..  :lick:

sweet potatoes I diced up, drizzle with olive oil and for breakfast I'll put cinnamon on them.. but for dinner I will either just put rosemary on them or I will put garlic salt and basil on them. bake at 375 for an hour..

An hour prep time for breakfast? Nnnooooooo thanks.

peppers are a fruit

it's understandable that you'd say that, since they're so sweet, but actually they grow from the ground and aren't trees, the fruiting body of the earth and haven't been pickled, so they're vegetables.
