This feels amateurish/homegrown to me.

Was thinking the same thing. Probably some nut who thinks he's Bane again.

Why blow up the finish line? There are way more people at the starting line.

Lol. You totally misspelled bain.

3:54 p.m. -- "Officials: There will be a controlled explosion opposite the library within one minute as part of bomb squad activities." [via] CBS News: "Third bomb detonated by police"

The BPD press conference seemed to conflict with this report. They did not state that they detonated the JFK Library bomb.

reports that ball bearings were used in the weapons

Radio said that a couple runners that were injured found ball bearings in their jacket pockets after the blasts.

There was no bomb in JFK it was an electrical fire. This was a totally different bomb/place

They are pulling ball bearings out of people in the hospitals.

WSJ says 5 undetonated explosive devices were found. I kind of don't believe it but whatever

I don't want to argue with you but the BPD has had 2 different press conferences calling the JFK Library "the third incident." I have also heard/seen 4 different Boston media organizations; WBZ-TV, WBZ radio, New England Cable News, and New England Sports Network refer to a bomb at the JFK Library. The only reports I've seen to the contrary are citing the tweet from the JFK Library citing the fire which didn't exclude anything else happening. That tweet was also likely made before they were aware what had happend across town. Who knows who is right or wrong at this point but its worth noting that the BPD has not refuted the report of a 3rd device at JFK.

Why, did they say I made all that up? Otherwise they mushed the BPD, WBZ, NECN, and NESN. I'm 1300 miles away watching a hockey game, I didn't report crap.

claims of shrapnel, like ball bearings, are now being reported as incorrect, probably metal bits from various objects around.

the day after an event like this is when all of the real facts start coming out.

only the 2 bombs, no more than that.  no ball bearings.  seems pretty tim mcveigh-ish.

Well I'll agree it seems homegrown.  But the Tim McVeigh thing killed a crap ton of people and was fairly innovative and sophisticated requiring expertise and coordination.
