Investigators have a suspect — a Saudi Arabian national — in the horrific Boston Marathon bombings, The Post has learned.
Law enforcement sources said the 20-year-old suspect was under guard at an undisclosed Boston hospital.
It was not immediately clear why the man was hospitalized and whether he was injured in the attack or in his apprehension.
The man was caught less than two hours after the 2:50 p.m. bombing on the finish line of the race, in the heart of Boston.

Thankfully no but her godmother is a volunteer for the BAA
Also people mentioning the fire at the JFK Library. The fire was separate from the explosion, people were sent home and a function was cancelled as a result of the fire. The explosion happened after and there has been no reported injuries.
Since I have started this message we have gotten a text from daughter of my wife's godmother. All good. And the BPD says the reports of an arrest are false. WBZ in Boston is reporting that they have surveillance video of a suspicious person with 2 backpacks

Tangential, but related: I was watching BBC a couple weeks ago and they were talking about a bombing in Pakistan. The reporter said an organization "admitted responsibility" for the bombing. I've never been comfortable with the American phrasing of saying an organization "claimed responsibility" for an attack -- as if it could be a point of pride -- and I think the Brits express it better. Anyway...

Walked by the scene today. (Well, as close as you can get, which is about three blocks away.) Probably about 100 people leaving flowers/messages/stuffed animals, etc. Very respectfully quiet the whole time except those who were crying. V. sad. :cry: But there's all kinds of awesome posters everywhere touting Bostonians' indomitable spirit, as you might expect, and a bunch of them could double in the weight room slogan thread.
The weirdest thing I've seen today is a few blocks away. On a still blocked off street around the corner there's still all the signage from right after the race, like "Family meet-up area X/Y/Z," etc. Along those same deserted streets are thousands and thousands of empty, used Gatorade cups on the ground, still untouched from two days ago. I guess they're leaving it for now in case there's evidence piled in there? Is that what you goEMAW'rs would guess? Or have they just had too much else on their plates to clean up?

Oh also one girl in front of me took out her iPhone to take pictures of the makeshift memorial but she had well over 1,000 photos jamming up all her space and taking up all her memory. So to make room for pictures of the memorial she had to delete a bunch of old pictures, and it was just 15 pictures in a row of various dinners. I swear to God she had 8 or 9 pictures in a row of the same Hawaiian pizza from different angles. :lol:

One wonders though were his bag went as shown it is missing in later photos? Guess its a matter of timing in that which photo was taken first and were the bag went (he could have left it in a car). USA today had photos of the "bag" before and after it went off. The bag did not look black to me even though the pictures the FBI have released of the bag are black.

Sister just got back from Boston last night. They were at the Red Sox game and decided to watch the end of the marathon after the game was over.
They made it about a half mile to the finish line before they decided it was too crowded and turned around to find a bar and get some beers.
They heard about it on the news while they were sitting and the bar, slammed their beers and jumped on the train before they shut everything down.

And to the FBI there is a big difference between suspect and person of interest. Suspect means they believe they have enough to charge them with something.

I can't say for sure, but it seemed like they had been chasing them since the MIT event. I'm pretty sure the officer that was shot at MIT was able to tell other officers what kind of car it was and which way it was headed before he passed away.

I know four people died and 180 injured with many victims losing limbs in the attack, but it could have been a lot worse in the causality department

Would be amazing, and amazing revenge for Lord & Taylor. Kind of along the same lines: guy I work with ran the marathon this year (his third time). Finished about an hour before the bombings and his hotel was close to the finish line so they evacuated and had to move hotels. He moved to a hotel in Cambridge but wasn't allowed to go into his old hotel to get toiletries, baggage, etc. so he had to stop at a convenience store to get toothbrushes and whatnot. The convenience store they stopped at? The Cambridge 711 that would become famous a few days later.
