Kansas GOP considering not even acting like they care about anyone other than straight white christian males. Definitely a winning strategy when it comes to growing your voting base.

This type of self immolation would make democrats blush

I was going to put this in the shitty towns in KS thread but didn't want to pit that one up.

A brilliant analysis-and funny to boot-What's the Matter with Kansas? is a vivid portrait of an upside-down world where blue-collar patriots recite the Pledge while they strangle their life chances; where small farmers cast their votes for a Wall Street order that will eventually push them off their land; and where a group of frat boys, lawyers, and CEOs has managed to convince the country that it speaks on behalf of the People.

I read that book back in 2004. I think I still have it somewhere.

I don't agree with all of his conclusions but I think the book contained a lot of truthiness.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-12140027/US-states-worst-drivers-EXPOSED-Texas-tops-chart.html

I'm guessing we'd be #1 if it wasn't for my exceptional driving.  And how did the rough ridin' bushwhackers not make the top 10?  They're horrible!  Anywho, this justifies the 4,347 times I flipped you a-holes off (all below the window) in the last two years.  Sit back and relax on that drive, the fast food joints you're heading to aren't going anywhere.
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

I thought this bump would be the story about the woman getting kicked out of a Wichita Public Library bathroom because she was caring for her adult special needs son and the security guard booted her for violating the new bathroom bill.

I assume the legal challenge is because changing their birth certificate frustrates the discriminatory intent of states’ birth certificate based laws.

I just came to post that. It's horrific, communist bloc type crap. The KBI needs to get involved here, might be a battle between the governor and the AG

Well, if they're going to eff with a small town paper, I'm glad it's one owned by someone with 20 years experience at a metro newspaper and 26 years teaching journalism at a university.

This article is one of the most absurd things I've ever read. It's like a bad movie of small town and judicial corruption, with a little bit of suspected adultery sprinkled in
Quote
Under Kansas law, magistrate judges have only three eligibility requirements: be a resident of the county where they preside, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and either be a lawyer admitted to practice in the state or able to pass an examination given by the Kansas Supreme Court to become certified within 18 months. Viar is one of 85 magistrate judges in Kansas. They are paid $76,000 to more than $100,000 a year. Kansas magistrate judges don’t have the full power and authority of full state district court judges, but they do wield significant influence over the criminal justice system. They can sign search warrants within their jurisdictions, such as the Marion County case.
