That was the angriest I have ever been watching a game that didn't involve my team, possibly ever. How in the hell did we lose to LaSalle? Carl Hall is like 6'4" and he looked like a NBA all-star against those runts. Marshall did a great job utilizing his advantages at the forward positions. I bet he takes the UCLA job before leaving LA on Saturday night.
I'm trying to tell you it all boils down to shooting when you talk lasalle. if they are hot from 3 they can play with anybody due to their speed advantages. if they go cold they get dominated with ease. they were hot versus k state and ole miss from 3 late in each game. thats the difference. wichita controlled the pace of the game and prevented them from getting open looks from 3 in transition, by disruptin the flow of lasalles triangle and two transition offense. either that or oscar had preminitions of being humiliated by wichita state

disagree, run good possessions by dumping it low, prevents easy transition points from speed break outs from missed shots, allows you to get back and setup the half court.  If your center is locking down the rim, as JO was in the 2nd half, it allows the guards to push out on the perimeter to lock down on their shooters.

You're point about being 'hot' and their speed advantages doesn't track very well imo with the rest of your comments.  Occasionally teams just go unconscious shooting, but LS didn't do that, we just didn't guard them for crap in the 1st half.  I agree with a lot of what you said.

i was talking out my ass, i'll admit it. i didn't watch the ksu game(largely because i thought ksu had it in the bag). i did watch the ole miss- lasalle game though, and la salle was on fire all game, but olemiss dominated them in the paint. that's why i said the shooting was the difference, since lasalle was cold from 3 today for the most part. I thought the better team won tonight, but that is not to take away or demean the accomplishments of the Shockers. I think they are a very good basketball team who has more than shown they can play with anybody. the emphasis of team ball and defense reminds me alot of that 10 loss villanova team in the early 2000's that either won the NC or made it to the championship game.

Yeah.  That was a tough watch last night.

LaSalle's coach was pretty much like "yeah, finally we hit a coach who knew his head from his ass"

What a garbage region we were in, too. I mean, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 all lose in the first round? And #1 loses in 2nd round? Unprecedented.

i'm sure gonzaga fans are reacting with much the same consternation as we have.

Well, no crap.... Most of these simpleton, no basketball-watching, fucks think that Wichita State is in Wichita Falls, TX and this is just Texas' mark on an otherwise worthless sports exhibition.

Hey, remember that one time KU won a title because they played in a steaming pile of a region...yeah that could have been us.

Oh man.  Imagine oscar making the E8 or F4 this year because of the garbage region.

Team #BiD would've had a lot of trouble gaining members going forward despite it being just like KU's orange bowl season.

KU did have a pretty sweet draw in their region.  Don't forge the F4 was all one seeds for the first time, so there is that.

lasalle is not a good team.  when i saw them play v. umiss, i was a little shocked at how limited they were.  they sounded like a better team when the radio guy was describing them play v. kstate.

Yes. Everyone knows that.  There is a trophy sitting somewhere in Lawrence that says 2008 Natl Champs. Why do you feel like you need more validation of KU's program than that? Honestly curious.

Trust me I don't know any validation.  I know what kind of program KU has and the success and failures that have happened.  I was only commenting on the post that edn made, that is all.

they were cold from 3 because wsu did an effective job defending it.  we did not.

La Salle was 7-18 from 3 against both K-State and Wichita State.  Key difference was that against the Shockers, they didn't have nearly a whole half worth of easy uncontested shots from beyond the arc to start the game.  They had to earn their looks over a whole 40 minutes and were prevented from immediately jumping out to a double digit lead due to a bunch of wide open shots.
