The last 4 games Forte has played less than 20 minutes, not sure what's going on there.

I think I might switch Rod over to Cobbins.  I really don't want Nash to get off to a good start and Cobbins does not seem to try to do much in the post.

That seems like a reason we'd want Rod on Nash. Rod is a better defender than Shane and doesn't get into foul trouble. It would be taking a chance because Nash might post him, but Nash will try to post Shane (or Nino) as well.

I feel like Angel's knee is the key to this game.  If he can keep Smart in front of him and stay out of foul trouble we can take this thing to wire.  I greatly fear Smart getting by ART and forcing the "help defense" that results in easy shots and orebs for OSU role players.

On the optimistic side, I want to believe Tay is going to take full advantage of more minutes and really play and shoot well.

This. Watching the ISU game last night, it seems like OSU's offense consists almost entirely of Smart driving the lane, trying to draw a foul, and either lobbing up a shot or dishing the ball. If we can protect the lane, we're going to be in good shape. If our bigs get into foul trouble early, we're in big trouble.

I agree with this.

Thoughts on Tay getting the assignment on Smart?

If Angel's knee is bothering him, I like it for at least the early parts of the game to keep him out of foul trouble, although he is not great matchup for Brown imo.

I'd rather lock down Smart than Brown, IMO.  Gotta keep him out of the lane and getting others involved.

I would hate Forte if he played for the cats. He shoots so many bad 3s.

Locking down Smart is the key.  The guy flops all the time and knows how to draw a foul.  This has me concerned.  Nash and Smart will shoot the ball.  Getting a body up on Nash will be critical to keep him from going off for 25 points.  I think if the Cats limit Smart and Nash to around 14 points each, I think we will be in good shape.  I'm worried about Brown/Forte hitting big shots when Smart dribble drives.  I agree that containing the paint is critical (as well as rebounding).

It doesn't concern me too much and Anderson isn't a terrible player (though he played out of his mind against us), he's just TCU's Cortez Groves.

Two things I do to help with this.

I think about Ell and Buhl at the coin toss in Lincoln their senior year and the exchange with that pud Lord.

And I think of Pullen beating his chest at mid-court yelling this is my motherfucking house.

Those get me very confident and reassured.

Baylor.  Regardless of what else happens, we want them to have to face Iowa State again. That only happens if they are the 1 seed 'cause ISU is the solid 5 seed.  Briefly,

If KSU wins, OSU is tied with OU but OU wins the tiebreaker (which extends all the way down to their records against Baylor) and is the 3 seed which would play vs. KSU if we are the 2 seed.  We're the 2 seed if KU wins.  KU loses and we are the 1 seed and would take ISU out for KU.

If KSU loses, OSU is the 3 seed and would play the 2 seed, which would be us regardless of whether KU or Baylor wins.

If KU wins, they're the 1 seed and they will play the 4/5 winner, which will be OSU/ISU if KSU wins. That's what we want.

If KU loses, they will be the 1 seed if we lose (they play OU/ISU winner) and the 2 if we win (they play the 3/6 which would be OU/Baylor).

So, we should want KSU and KU to win, IF we want to win the tournament.  The Squawks should actually want us to win and them to lose for their easiest path to the tournament title.

OK St beat Isu by 2 pts.   They were down by 4 pts with 2:00 left
OK St beat OU In OT.  OK St did not have the lead in the 2nd half (they obviously led in OT)
OK St beat Baylor by in OT by 2 pts.  Baylor had the ball in a tie with a chance to win.  Shot got blocked and Brown got a game winning layup.

Please tell me why Kstate cant go down there and win.   OK ST is not a GREAT home team. They are a good home team

I think having Brian Williams back has a lot to do with it.    Forte has played 21 minutes or less in 7 of the last 9 games.   B Williams has ave about 18 minutes a game in the past 8 games
