take the money and run bro
This link shows the slot values assigned by MLB for the first 10 rounds..
http://ht.ly/k7AbT146 Mets $330,800 - King
291 Indians $138,100 - Kivett
Neither of these players are looking at 'life changing' bonuses...both could receive a signing bonus offer higher than these values, since they are college Jr's, and have a lot of leverage in negotiations, but I'd say max for these guys is $500k for King & $250k for Ross. King could easily sneak into the top-2 rounds next year, so his ROI for coming back would be huge. Conlon would be lucky to get an offer of $75k from the Royals, as they've used about half of their $8M allotment on their first 3 picks alone, and are notorious under GMDM for spending $$ not spent in the draft on Latin American talent, so they don't have a lot of motivation to offer tons of $$ for mid-round picks.
Personally, I think the three of them look at the pitching & other pieces we have coming back and will all return to MHK to defend the title & get to Omaha in '14
COUNTERPOINTIf the Mets are as convinced in Kings talent as their blogging community, they may offer a solid above-slot bonus.
