I imagine the Auburn job is tough to hire for right now. "Hey, we fire a coaches only a few years after having undefeated seasons. I'm sure you'd be great!"

Have you seen what we pay?

Any coach would look at what Chizik did the last season and know they would get fired for that.  You guys have never seen a team play that poorly (maybe his ISU teams?).

Auburn's got a proven track record of being a top football school and keeping coaches for long periods (Dye, Tuberville).  Going against Saban is tough, but it can be done and there are only so many spots on that roster.

Also, if he keeps Hayes, we'd have Tanner's and Hooters former employees as our coaches. Sounds fun.

Gruden won a Super Bowl in Tampa with a crazy good defense and Brad rough ridin' Johnson as his quarterback. That's an SEC wet dream.

@KyleTucker_CJ: Per a source inside UK athletics, Butch Jones, Sonny Dykes and Mark Stoops have all said "no thanks" to Kentucky.

Kyle Tucker ?@KyleTucker_CJ
Source on UK football search: "All the agents are telling their coaches it's a dead-end job and if they're an up-and-comer, don't touch it."

From multiple conversations, I believe the top two choices for UK FB job are Mike MacIntyre and Mark Stoops. Decision very soon

I know, right?

Here' the deal, if you can marginally improve Kentucky, then you can easily get another job.  But, it's possible to coach your ass off at Kentucky and still get piss pounded...particularly with Tennessee getting a new coach (improving), and Vanderbilt doing well.  Where are the wins?  Mizzou? :dunno:

you have to win all 4 of your non cons then squeak out 2-3 wins in conf.  you'd play MU and Vandy every year, then you have to hope you get ole miss and miss st from the west.  and that's just the optimal schedule.  the good thing about the sec is that there's only like 5 good teams and you may only have to play like 2 of them.  i mean, if you're looking at ISU or KU vs. UK, you take the UK job.  You can't hide in the big 12.

UK always gets MSU from the West.

And nothing is a given with regards to Tennessee or Vanderbilt dominating UK in the long term. Or even South Carolina for that matter, considering Spurrier is pretty old. Things can change so quickly these days.

Multiple sources told Mile High Sports on Monday that former Kansas head coach Mark Mangino and the University of Colorado have expressed mutual interest in one another regarding CU’s now open head coaching position. Mangino would also be open to serving as CU’s offensive coordinator should he not be named the team’s head coach.

Why do we like Mangino? I kind of hate him for being a total turncoat and coaching for KU. I think if you're a grad of LHCBS, you owe it to him to a) never, ever go coach at Kansas, and b) to stuff it to the Stoops brothers whenever possible.

So, why the Mangino love?

If Gruden coaches again he'll go to the Chargers. He loves San Diego and I think Turner and AJ Smith are finally gone this year.
