The texas job opening has been a big collective money grab for any coach with decent stock.  A great time to be an up and coming or elite coach right now.

A LOT of LOL in this article...they have so many cooks in the kitchen.  It's going to be the soap opera we all hoped for, I just know it!  :excited:

Another source close to the situation said Patterson has already interviewed Vanderbilt coach James Franklin and wants to talk to Michigan State's Mark Dantonio.

Patterson met with a group of Texas lettermen before the Alamo Bowl on Monday who expressed support for Baylor coach Art Briles.

A group of billionaire donors appear ready to make their case for Florida State's Jimbo Fisher as the next coach at Texas. Even though Fisher signed a new contract extension at FSU that will take his salary to $4.1 million, the new deal has no buyout, two sources confirmed.

Previously, Fisher had a buyout of $2 million. So the new deal effectively makes it easier for Fisher to leave, if he chose to do so, sources said.

Another billionaire Texas donor has let it be known he supports Jon Gruden as Mack Brown's replacement.

This one was awesome:

Patterson has consulted former Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds, who has recommended that even former Texas coach-in-waiting Will Muschamp, coming off a 4-8 season at Florida, get consideration, a source said.

Lot of smoke, I wonder if Saban has had enough time to move into his new house yet.

UL AD Tom Jurich told @espn if Charlie Strong met w/UT as @ChipBrownOB reported, Patterson did not get permission from UL

I guess I don't really see Patterson as the type of guy who asks permission from Louisville.

Dennis Dodd @dennisdoddcbs

Some news on Strong/Louisville: Patterson reached out to Jurich Tues. The 2 never spoke, SP never got permission to interview ...

...also, as of Tuesday morning Strong had not interviewed with Texas.

ESPN reporting #PennState coach Bill O'Brien has reached agreement to become new head coach of Houston Texans

Penn State, with the reduced sanctions, is pretty good gig.

Schiano to PSU

IIRC, Schiano actually recruited Florida a bunch to build up Rutgers.  I wonder if he'd do that at Penn State?

I kind of wonder if they would have him.  He is a Bo Pelini style disaster personality wise.

I just figured it made sense since he coached there in the 90's

Petrino should get a better gig through this domino effect that is about to happen.  He would do well at Baylor or OU if Bob jumps.
