Did Charlie Strong interview with #Texas? No confirmation. But jet that left KJVY for Austin came from San Antonio -- site of UT's bowl.

Strong just got one more reason to leave, though I'm sure this is no surprise.

Vanderbilt's James Franklin is Penn State's top target for their HC vacancy, according to beat writer Ron Musselman.

Musselman adds that a "search committee (has) formed" and a "short list of coaching candidates" has been made. Franklin apparently tops the list, and this is the second time his name has been brought up in this capacity. Franklin is also drawing NFL attention, according to a number of reports.

Texas interviews Charlie Strong; Art Briles next? shar.es/9r8q3

Quote
The American-Statesman has also confirmed previously published reports that Louisville’s Charlie Strong has officially interviewed with Patterson at an undisclosed location. But Patterson told Strong that the athletic director planned to visit with other candidates to replace Mack Brown as well.

Quote
The Baylor source said that Briles has no plans to remain in Arizona and is scheduled to return to Waco on Wednesday with the rest of the Baylor team. Two sources, including one close to Briles, has told the Statesman that Briles would accept the Texas job if offered.

Briles could end up contemplating a Texas offer AND a Washington offer.  Texas is probably just covering their ass by pursuing both.

My hope would be that Baylor Baylors the crap out of their hire, but with that new stadium and their willingness to pay top salaries now, they might be able to pull someone like Franklin, even.

I'm amazed nobody is throwing cutcliff out there. I mean he essentially did what Franklin did

Maybe it's the ole miss thing but I figured his name would be brought up more

Baylor will promote either their OC or Bennett. They will quickly realize they have no other options.

Texas should show how serious they are about all this and hire Tressel.

Chad  Morris, Clemson OC  would also be a  candidate - ironically,  he replaced Briles at Stephenville HS when Briles left for TT

being old really doesn't matter anymore, coaches usually only last a few years these days other than a handful, hell saban is in his 60's

Stealing coaches from within the conference is the kind of thing that will make the Big 12 immensely entertaining and grow rivalries.

The SEC has done this for years.  It's a good thing.

Also, Charlie Strong will be great at Florida.

My guess is that Baylor goes after a big name assistant from somewhere.

Art Briles at Texas is going to be downright nasty.

Texas might actually be the better financial decision than Washington, over the next 10 years, who knows?

I think of Saban's defense with Alabama's talent, and then I think of Briles' offense with Texas' talent, and it frightens me.

It's that level of greatness.

I just meant that Snyder will probably give him a pile of cash with a long-term guaranteed contract.  He still has to win a few against OU to keep his gig at Texas.
