at least 2 if not 3 recruiting classes that a dead man could have put together.
We should have hired a dead man, then, based upon Weber's recruiting.

No, nobody's going to play that Bull$hit game with me . . . I've already made it clear I don't know if Weber is going to work out, and that I pretty much expect Tiffany Cufflinks to be pooped.   If not, then I want oscar gone, and if not Currie to boot.  I've said that early and often.

Also, please forgive if I can't help but get a little chuckle about bantering about names of Horizon League coaches who barely have .500 records after 6 years and only went to the NCAA tourney (once) because of what they inherited.    The sad little stories about how hard it is to recruit with all the other schools around when the school in question resides in a major population center, and is a stones throw from another major population center.  The talk of, "Hey he's a really solid X's and O's guy, and golly he was Horizon League coach of the year".

That's every bit the reach of a oscar Weber hire.

Also, if you want to talk about who inherited whose players, many of oscar Weber's Pearl's best players at UW-M were Rob Jeter recruits from when he was head recruiter for Bo Ryan there:  http://www.todaystmj4.com/blogs/lanceallan/120172559.html

edit: too many damn bruces

That's great, but it goes without saying it's a whole new ballgame when the media guides are tracking your W-L's.   So far, pretty so-so, so again, a reach jumping to a major conference.   Maybe that will change in coming years.

Mittons . . . seriously?

every time you post, you make the most convincing case possible for how utterly selfish and Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) currie was for running off martin.  yet, you refuse to turn your bile-coated tounge against currie.  i'm sorry your father didn't stay with you, dax.  i'm sorry your gf left, then your next gf, then your next gf, then your next gf, then your wife, then your next wife, then your next wife.  it must be very hard to see the people you abuse constantly turning their backs on you, the ungrateful wretches.

Don't feel sorry for me, I'm fine.   I feel sorry for you because you quite clearly invested your entire K-State fandom in a coach who was going to leave barring a pay grade increase he was in no way, shape or form deserving of . . . and who quite possibly created an atmosphere that could have spelled a PR disaster for the K-State Basketball PROGRAM.   Not only that, a guy pulling in a compensation package worth nearly $2 million dollars a year with at least 2 if not 3 recruiting classes that a dead man could have put together.

your statement is a bunch of hypotheticals and conspiracy theories that for the most part aren't true.

the facts (facts) are that frank took kstate into post season play every season he was here. ncaa tournament 4/5. never lost a first round ncaa tournament game. made an elite 8. was 18 games over .500 in conference play during his 5 years at kstate. kstate then chased him off and replaced him with a guy that just got fired for going 11 games under .500 in his conference during the same exact time period.

so, time to get this thing back on the track... looks like i'm not the only one that dumped tickets after frank was told to leave and currie replaced him with a guy that just got fired. i mean, including ku tickets as part of some kind of multi-game pak? yikes.

Yeah.  Stuff must be worse than thought to include that as part of any package.
ON TOPIC:Huggins and Martin successfully purged virtually all the red and blue out of the Bram, it will be interesting to see if this trend continues

that's another thing that just drives me crazy. i mean look, if you want to sacrifice basketball for football fine. just actually do it though. give the job to underwood or steve henson at 900k/year and use the 600k a year you are saving in coaching salaries to allow snyder to go out and get a coach or two. i mean crap loving crap. why are we not trying to win in basketball but still paying the same amount of money that we were paying frank?

that's great.  i'm glad neither of us begrudge martin choosing to better his life in whatever manner he sees fit.  here's to martin and here's to kstate getting a deal on coaching salaries.

I am late to this, but regarding the "oscar is the best we can hope for" talking point:

An unproven coach is better than a proven loser every time.

Exactly.  As for Dax's "Weber was the best we could get" bullshit talking point to back up his lame defense of Currie, HOW THE eff DO WE KNOW THAT?  Currie didn't even try...didn't consider anyone else.  He said as much.  That's not rough ridin' doing your job.  If you're a VP interviewing candidates for a high level management position, and you hire the first schmuk whose name your buddy gives you without seriously considering other candidates, the board should rough ridin' fire you on the spot, regardless of the qualifications of your hire.  Now, throw in the fact that your hire was just fired for running his last company (which was wildly profitable when he took over) into the ground, and I'm not sure how that can rough ridin' be defended in ANY context.

I'm sorry, Dax, which recruiting class of Frank's is Weber's class better than?

Well for starters, several of Weber's last recruiting classes at Illinois blew anything Frank put together at K-State out of the water, at least from a ratings perspective.

But if you need to see this horror show again, here goes:

2008:
Buchi Awaji
Abdul Herrera

That class has been banned in 48 states and 15 countries.

2010:

Freddy Asprilla
Juevol Myles
Shane Southwell
Will Spradling
Nino Williams

When Spradling and Southwell are your two best recruits in an class of five at a Big 12 School, that's just not very good.  We'll see if Williams amounts to anything.

2011:  This is when an Elite 8 run, and multiple NCAA tourney appearences should really be hitting home on the recruiting trail.

Adrian Diaz-He may turn into a real DITR
Thomas Gipson-A highly sought after 3 star recruit.
Jeremy Jones- :dunno:
Omari Lawrence- :dunno:
Angel Rodriguez-
James Watson- :dunno:

I left out the 2009 class, which was on paper an Elite needle mover.   But 2008-crap, 2010-I'll be nice and say mediocre and 2011 pretty medicore.   Even more painful when you consider that there were 10 slots available, brought about by multiple Frankings.  The next couple of classes had to have multiple home runs and NO Frankings, or IMO things were going to get bad quickly.   7 foot project academic rejects were not what we needed.

A few things.  1) I hate ping! 2)  Brad Hill is a joke  3) Tigers are in the World Series, we'll talk hot stove in a month or so but gtfo with college baseball unless we are talking prospects.

1. Meh. Doesn't bother me
2. Yes
3. I came from a school with a good baseball program and a catastrophically bad basketball program so that's my coping mechanism and stuff. Sorry you don't like it.

I don't think an Orris/DJamer class is any better than those classes.

I like the 2011 more than the 2009 class. I personally don't think it is close because of Angel, great point guards are every thing in college Bball.

True... but it has to be pretty tough to recruit kids to one school, get fired, and then still get them at your next school.

I do think DJamer could be pretty good... looking forward to seeing him play.
