Mrs Dobber has not had a paying job in 12 years. She was making more than I was on the day she quit. She could tell you pretty close to our net worth and could tell you closer than I could as to how much we have in our checking account. She buys what she wants. I buy what I want. We had a good understanding about what was important financially before we got married, as well as how we wanted to raise children.

I feel sorry for all those married to a financially irresponsible spouse; woof. My wife and I both loaded apps on our phone for checking, savings, credit cards, and retirement accounts, as well as Quicken. We both know exactly how much the other makes, what we spend it on, and how much we're worth.  These are all joint accounts except 401k. We're in our 30's, but if anything happens to one of us we want the other to be fully aware of our finances. It's really pretty easy.

Omg. Great story. Well a story that made me smile a lot. It involves incense.

So I stop at local shop to pick up some incense. I go straight to it and go to the counter. Lady says that was fast, knew what you wanted and you were done. I say yes, that's usually how it goes for me. Except...blah blah. I pay with a card and she asks if I want a receipt I say no that I'll just throw it away. She says well you could pretend that you balance your checkbook like your mom advises but we both know you dont. We laugh. She says she has misplaced her pen that she was using to draw squares with. She goes off and finds it and upon returning I show her that she could have scored some cool points if she had been drawing cubes. I show her my heart/cube tattoo. She says it was actually rectangles that she was drawing.I ask her name so that can complain to the owener. She tells me her name and then gives me a fake name that she says she gives people so that if they see her at the bars they won't know her name. I say that I don't go to the bars. She said me either actually. Now that's two things we have in common, not going to the bars and each have a heart tattoo. I say we should get coffee sometime and ask for her number. She says she really thinks so too. I say I guess I will take that receipt now, as she has written her number on it. As this concludes she comes around the counter to give me a hug. I love hugs. Life is beautiful.
