I haven't heard much in this thread about match.com from you single cats or eharmony.  Seems like it would be a viable route.

Match is the only other online thing I've used other than tinder. It's definitely more the route you want to go if you want to find someone with more substance than tinder usually (the girl I'm seeing right now I met on match and I can see this going somewhere, though we've only been dating for a few weeks so will report more later). There are some good girls, and a few good looking girls on match, but it takes some digging and little more work than you think. They give you daily emails about members that you "match" with and whatnot, but it doesn't take long for then to keep recycling through same girls. Is it worth it to spend the money on it? I would say yes, but be wary that if you pay for 3 months of membership, once those 3 months are up you have to cancel, or they will just sign you up for another 3 months without asking, so be careful. Also, learn how to write good emails, the more effort you put in them the more likely they will respond.

I know at least one couple that is married w/ a kid and met on one of those sites. I think it's great and has lost a lot of its negative rep over time.

If that is one of your top requirements, that can be difficult. :users:

I would say it's more like sounding like a good conversationalist in an email without being formulaic. Like introducing yourself to her in person but you know, in writing. Something short, simple, personable about you and personable about her, and memorable.

Hello babe,

My name is cfbandyman.  I'm extremely tall and good looking.  It sounds like you are really into KSU Cats so I find that very interesting.  Maybe one day we'll get married on center court at fOOD?!?!?!

xoxo

i get that sometimes things don't work out and that these things happen and that i'll live and etc... given our different backgrounds it was gonna be a pretty longshot anyways. i mean, despite what rusty says, culture/religion/family aren't always small potatoes in a relationship.

The online thing seems like a good idea.  I mean, you get to pre weed out ppl without wasting your initial time.  I get ppl lie, but even if half of the ppl on the site lie, it still gives you a larger pool that what you encounter at your local whatever and also presorts.  This all sounds better than trying to figure out what she is like when she isn't drunk, imo.   :dunno:

It's not old fashioned to know only dorks and fatties are on match

maybe back during your courtship but I'm not sure that's the case now. (note: I did not find my spouse on match)

I think it's probably pretty great for older adults.  There's nothing wrong with it, even though I would never do it.  I wouldn't judge you if you did, even though I secretly would.

I tried match and eharmony when I was in Topeka. Didn't have much luck with either outside of making some friends. Have had great luck with okcupid and tinder though.

I feel like the Topeka thing may be a problem more than the match.com thing, SDK.  I mean, the type of fish need to actually be in the waters you troll.

Sometimes I just swipe right on everyone just to see what kinds of girls are interested with no interest in ever messaging them.  :D
