More on dude#2!

So, I went to the store and picked up some $6 reading glasses to leave at work and $10 worth of lottery tickets.

The VP was there when I got back. He said and did a bunch of totally normal stuff for the next several hours. BUT THEN, as I was getting ready to leave, he told me that he wanted to share something with me. I'd learned earlier that he was a wrestling coach and has a son who is a star wrestler. He then told me that he'd taken his son to Nationals as a 14 year old and felt terrible because his son lost immediately. His reaction was to write a letter to his son. The letter is what he wanted to share with me. So, I sat there as he read verbatim this 3/4 page, single spaced, deeply personal letter about winning and losing and trying and getting back up and learning life lessons. As he's reading it, I'm like, "Oh crap. How am I supposed to respond to this? Is my response going to sound phony? What's going on here!?" Luckily, he kept right on talking after reading and the conversation flowed naturally.
Hahaha how did I miss this???

Yes, but I don't think anyone would call him that any longer.

Any of you ever have to interview your potential next boss? it's pretty wild.

Our new CEO is from the East Coast and wanted the next Manager to work from remote out there (with some of his connections) and one that has a past with many of our competitors. I get the logic, our company looks totally different than it did 7 months ago. It will be weird having a manager that doesn't work here. It's kind of weird busting your future managers balls over how they manage, resource, etc. while I have to help him teach him our background and how/why where we're at today.

Working in a different location than your boss is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I work remotely and my dudes and dudettes liked it better when I didn’t. They could be just saying that to make me feel good though.

I’ll soon be working remotely. Very excited to not spend an hour+ commuting every day, but unsure how effectively it will work. It’s nice to be able to walk to someone’s desk to talk to them.

I'm helping train my new boss for his job this week. They flew him in from Virginia yesterday. He seems to be leaning on me since I'm Senior. Should be an interesting dynamic. I'm looking forward to working from home mostly here in a few weeks. I think we're downsizing our home office anyways. We've dropped like 6-7 executives since the new CEO showed up in the fall.

This is not fanning bragging, I need honest advice. I've filled up both of my territories for the first time in the 4 years I've been here and I'm bored AF. We just transitioned in a new manager here and I'm sure he'd happily have me work in another territory to help out, but that would also cause a lot of stress in house with my fellow coworkers who own the territory. I need to keep hiring for bonus purposes, but I'm kind of in a pickle. What would you do?
