I thought so. It was quite fortuitous. I think it bodes well that she approached me based upon being well dressed and well spoken.

We shall see!

it wasn't that you were well dressed and spoken, it also shows a certain level of maturity and a lot of hard work to be where you both were.  whatever you've both been through will undoubtedly be harder than any work she may offer you and it shows that you potentially are up to the task.  she knows these things.

Yep.  Well put, clams.

Thanks for the advice. What specifically is wrong with the grammar?

Oxford Comma--either use it, or don't.

Don't use a comma there.

Wrong. (You) either use it, or (you) don't.

You don't use commas with correlative conjunctions.

I would think you would if you have two independent clauses

This. To be fair, you could use a comma or not, and it would be perfectly fine either way. If you use a comma, then you're repeating the implied imperative subject (you).

For which you're applying.

And I suppose you think it's not "proper grammar" to begin a sentence with a conjunction?

how do you feel about using a colon immediately following a verb? that one is irritating

I agree. I try to follow the rules as best I can, but I am terrible at grammar. I'll just keep a grammar friend for editing as necessary.

I think "farther they could have went" works best here.

Big fan. I usually use it after saying something along the lines of "I have to crap."

Not only is Spracne a law student, but apparently, he is a distinguished linguist.  I, for one, am not surprised.
