Submitted my cover letter and resume last night. I was a bit nervous as this would be my first grown up attempt. I reached out to Canary to assist. I'm glad I did, I wouldn't have come up with such a fantastic cover letter.

My name is SdK, and I am writing this letter in pursuit of a ----------- position with your company.  I have work experience in many areas, and am now pursuing work in the sales industry.  I am at a position in life where I am ready to settle into a career in which I am able to contribute my skills and abilities, while looking forward to advancement along the way.


I began working at age fifteen. I have experience in food service, sales, construction, and warehouse. While these are all very different industries, many of the personal skills required are similar. I am hard-working and pay close attention to detail. I make sure that my work reflects the expectations of my supervisor and the company.  I have met work completion quotas, and have always been able to, at the very least, keep up with my coworkers. I am not afraid to do my share, and I do it diligently. I am always motivated to work well, make my mark, and meet expectations


I am a person who knows myself well; the limitations and the gifts that I possess. I want to be a part of an organization where my skills will be put to use, I will be challenged to improve myself, and my contributions will be necessary and appreciated.  I am an honest person, with myself and others. I expect a lot of myself, and can be my own biggest critic. I do, however, seek out feedback on my performance in an effort to improve.  That being said, I believe I can bring some very positive characteristics to the organization.  I am very accepting of others, their personalities and their situations. I work to find common ground with them, and fully engage in the conversation and discussion.  I am intelligent, outgoing, and respectful.  I have always been able to work well with the others on the job team, and I can follow or lead, depending on what is necessary.

Given that I don't have much experience in the field, I think it works. If anyone has any advice on its content and advice moving forward, id love to get feedback. I've already submitted that one, but I feel I'll probably have to do another one later in life. Also will probably want resume help next time as well.

I mainly made this post because I am thankful for the wording and phrasing that Canary helped me create.

I emailed my friend to let them know I had submitted for the jobs we had spoken about on Monday. They are the regional manager for the company, I'm hoping they will have some HR pull. This was their reply.

Thank you so much. I really appreciated meeting with you the other day.  I will let HR know you have applied.  I hope it works out as I think you would have a bright future with us.

There are a number of changes I would make. At the very least, you need to clean up your grammar. In terms of content, you've said a lot of good, but generic, things about yourself. It would be better to take the further step of making the connection between those general traits and how those traits will benefit the company w/r/t the specific role you're applying for.

Comma usage. Some shouldn't be there; some should be added. Also, the semicolon is used incorrectly (unlike the previous sentence). And you were inconsistent with your use of the Oxford Comma--either use it, or don't.
