UNLV has had one winning season since 2000. They did move into Allegiant Stadium. which could be beneficial. I could see them being good and popular if they committed to winning like Tark's boys. Could be a big draw. Prob not as much now w/ pro sports in town tho.
I don't see how it could be beneficial. G5 schools playing in huge, empty pro stadiums has never been a good look. And outside of '98 with Shaun King at Tulane and Marshall Faulk at San Diego State, I can't think of many other examples. Tulane upgraded their status significantly when they left the Superdome for a dinky new on-campus stade. Hope it works out for UNLV though, they deserve nice things just like everybody.
Definitely. I was more looking back at UNLV's basketball success in the 1980s and early 90s. They fully embraced the entertainment aspect of Vegas and wrapped it around their basketball program and Vegas image. Vegas loves a show, and back then they were the only sports show in town other than boxing.
That's not the case anymore, so would probably be very difficult. Vegas has really embraced the Knights. Not sure on the Raiders. College football might be a difficult sell.
